the microliter sample range.

Ultra-Compact
Microcentrifuges
With a footprint measuring just 9 x 13 inches, the Pico features

an ergonomically designed lid grip for easy access to the rotor.
A whisper-quiet brushless induction drive accelerates samples
to maximum speed in a few seconds.
The Picos refrigerated counterpart is the compact and quiet Fresco,
which also accommodates 1.5 or 2 ml tubes in a 24-place rotor.
Standstill cooling ensures your samples are safe, while the
CFC-free refrigeration system maintains constant temperatures
even during extended centrifugation.
Microliter and PCR strip rotors for the Pico and Fresco are
equipped with biocontainment lids for use with infectious or
hazardous samples. The aerosol-tight, Easy-Twist-On lid is
exceptionally easy to use. Adapter sets allow centrifugation of all
commercially available microliter tubes, including 0.6 ml to 0.2 ml
PCR tubes.

he compact, space saving Primo and Primo R offer the

capabilities of three different tabletop centrifuges in single
instruments. With a wide choice of rotors and adapters for tubes
from 0.2 - 100 ml and top speeds to 15,000 rpm (21,890 x g)1,
both the Primo and Primo R function as high-performance
microcentrifuges, high speed and general purpose centrifuges.
Primo centrifuges, with their applications-oriented accessories, are
proven favorites in clinical, molecular biology, cell biology and
small medical laboratories. Featuring an automatic rotor
recognition system and electronic imbalance protection, whisperquiet Primo instruments accept fixed-angle, swinging bucket and
microliter rotors. The innovative Highconic 6 x 50 ml fixed-angle
rotor allows the centrifugation of conical cell culture vessels at up
to 10,000 x g, while a high-performance 24-place microliter rotor
rapidly accelerates 1.5 or 2 ml tubes to a maximum RCF of
21,885 x g. Both rotors are autoclavable to 121C - and along with
the accessory 4 x 100 ml swinging bucket rotor, are certified as
providing biocontainment for biologically safe centrifugation.

Centrifuges
Process control is via the EASYcontrol II panel, clearly displaying
all operational and run parameters. Time, speed and RCF values
are set using a touch pad, with 2 acceleration and 9 braking curves
available for sensitive samples. A quick-run key is also available
for short spins.

he compact SORVALL Stratos is a versatile refrigerated high

speed tabletop centrifuge that incorporates advanced drive
technology usually found only in expensive floor model centrifuges.

Tabletop Centrifuge
The Stratos features a whisper-quiet spindle drive - unique for a

tabletop centrifuge - that allows 9 different fixed-angle, microliter,
swinging bucket and microplate rotor types to be spun at speeds to
23,300 rpm (50,377 x g). Spindle drive technology enables very
short acceleration and braking times for faster sample throughput,
and significantly extends instrument life. Imbalance sensitivity is
reduced to the point where tubes can be balanced by eye alone,
and sample disturbance under breaking is kept to a minimum.
Sample capacity ranges from 4 x 180 ml (or four microplates)
in the instruments swinging bucket rotors to a maximum of
24 x 1.5 or 2 ml tubes in microliter rotors. The rotor inventory
of the Stratos also spans four different biocontained fixed-angle
varieties. A wide range of adapters is available for popular tube
sizes down to 0.2 ml.

Contifuge Continuous
Flow Centifuge
he SORVALL Contifuge is capable of processing very large

sample volumes typically, from bioreactors and fermentors
in just a single run. The centrifuge allows rapid, reliable separations
of large volumes of suspension with a low solid matter content,
and with the help of an accessory cart, can be used almost
anywhere. Compared with discontinuous centrifugation, time
savings of up to 80% are possible.
The Contifuge can be used with a high speed titanium continuous
flow rotor, ideal for harvesting bacterial cultures and human or
animal cells. The rotor is easy to assemble and clean, fully
autoclavable, and sediment cells gently without lysis.
To maintain precise, reproducible flow rates, the use of a peristalic

pump with a pump range of 100 to 900 ml/min is recommended.
An optional peristaltic pump, which is controlled via the
centrifuge, is available.
A movable centrifuge cart, on which the pump, sample containers
and a magnetic stirrer can be placed, makes the entire system
portable. Reinforced metal construction makes the cart virtually
vibration-free.
The Contifuge operates reliably, even when complex samples
are processed. Even the introduction of air/lather does not affect
system operation.
A polypropylene insert improves sedimentation capability,

particularly for small or low density particles. The insert,
developed for the separation of suspensions with a low solids
content, reduces sediment capacity from 300 ml to 50 ml.
