Job Summary: The System Analyzer is primarily responsible for the simultaneous
monitoring function of all the individual components. This responsibility includes
maintaining spares and supplies, handle troubleshooting according to the guides
provided, handling revisions and new installations, record keeping, and routing
maintenance.

It is the most prestigious nonmanagerial job in Ovania Chemical

Corporation. Thus, in addition, the individual will also have to be a self-starter,


demonstrate drive for continuous improvement, interpret technical drawings, and
display a wide degree of creativity.

Duties and Responsibilities


MAINTAINING SPARES AND SUPPLIES
1. Anticipates future need for parts and supplies and orders them.
2. Stocks parts and supplies kin an orderly fashion.
3. Maintains and calibrates test equipment.
TROUBLESSHOOTING
4. Applies calibration standards to verify operation by subjecting the system to
known standards.
5. Decides the whether the problem is in the sensor, in the processor, in the process
stream, and/or in the sample system.
6. Uses troubleshooting guides in system manuals to determine the problem area.
7. Uses test equipment to diagnose the problem.
8. Makes a general visual inspection of the analyzer system as a first
troubleshooting step.
9. Replaces components such as printed circuit boards and sensors to see if the
problem can be alleviated.
HANDLING REVISIONS AND NEW INSTALLATTIONS
10. Make minor piping changes such as size, routing, and additional filters.
11. Make minor electrical changes such as installing switches and wires and making
terminal changes.
12. Uses common pipefitting tools.
13. Uses common electrical tools.
14. Reads installation drawings.
15. Gets down into the dirty treatment tanks to check gauge readings
RECORD KEEPING
16. Maintain system files showing historical record of work on each system.
17. Maintains loop files that show the application of the system.
18. Updates piping and instrument drawings if any changes are made.
19. Maintains Environmental Protection Agency records and logbooks.
20. Disassembles analyzers to perform repairs on-site or back in the shop.

21. Replaces damaged parts such as filters, electronic components, light source,
lenses, sensors, and values.
22. Uses diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and decade
boxes.
23. Tests and calibrates repaired equipment to ensure that it works properly.
24. Reads and follows written procedures from manuals.
ROUTING MAINTENACE
25. Observes indicators on systems to ensure that there is proper operation.
26. Adds reagents to systems.
27. Decide whether the lab results or the system is correct regarding results (i.e.,
resolves discrepancies between lab and analyzer results).
28. Performs calibrations.

Required Knowledge and Experience


1. Associates Degree in Instrumentation and 3 years experience in an industrial
environment.
2. This position requires proof of the NCCER certification prior to employment.
3. Physical requirements Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs.
Walking, bending, stooping is required.
4. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a
respirator.
5. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
6. Must be proficient in utilizing various computer applications, including MS Office
suit and SAP.
