Sequence of Events (SOE) Solutions

for PACSystems
Helping you capture event data for quicker time to solution
Event data collection is crucial in safety and
critical control applications. GE Intelligent
Platforms SOE solutions can capture both
the first event and sequence of events that
occur in your system during a shutdown or
a trip sequence to help you document when
events have occurred. Providing accurate
detection, recording and storing of events
and leveraging highly accurate time stamps,
our SOE solutions enable you to analyze
when change of states occurred in your
process and the precise order of occurrence,
down to the millisecond.

Available as a downloadable package, our

SOE offerings are fully documented solutions
for our PACSystems* RX3i and RX7i programmable automation controllers (PACs). These
solutions consist of a PAC application code, a
Windows application for Proficy* Historian
or Microsoft SQL data collection, solution
instructions, and example analysis screens
for Proficy Real-Time Information Portal. They
are suitable for any application whereby
change-of-state data improves the ability to
view, analyze and optimize process sequence
and effectiveness.

Solutions:

Regardless of geographic location, users

worldwide have the same time reference
with our SOE solutions precise, universal
time recording.

PACSystems RX7i Embedded SOE

Sequence of Event Recording for RX7i
PACSystems, utilizing VME digital event
capture board, time synchronization board
and on-board mirrored event buffering.
PACSystems RX3i Soft SOE SoftwareBased Sequence of Event Recording for
RX3i PACSystems; configurable solution
utilizing standard RX3i input modules with
events buffered in PAC memory.
PACSystems RX3i ENIU with SOE Software-Based Sequence of Event Recording
in RX3i remote Ethernet I/O racks utilizing
RX3i Soft SOE technology; configurable

and supports standard modules and event

buffering in the remote racks, including
transient event annunciation. This solution
is also supported in our PACSystems high
availability control architectures, including
Proficy Process Systems.

Sequence of Events (SOE) Solutions for PACSystems

Technical specifications

How it works

RX7i Embedded
Up to 4 modules per RX7i rack (64 digital inputs
per module)
Redundant 3,072 event on-board buffers
1 msec time stamping
VME Time Sync
Collection
- Proficy Historian or Microsoft SQL
- 1 per second collection via Ethernet
- Up to 32 PACSystems (8192 digital inputs)
- Sustained rate of 400 events/sec/PACSystems
- 12,800 events/sec sustained rate

RX7i Embedded SOE: Each change-of-state

input can be configured to be time stamped
with millisecond accuracy. The time-stamped
information is moved into the SOE module buffer
and mirrored buffer and is cyclically transferred
to the PAC SOE buffer, which is periodically transferred over Ethernet to the Historian collector.
The Historian collector then immediately stores
the SOE data into the Proficy Historian database.

RX3i Soft
Up to 8 modules (256 digital inputs/rack)
32,000 event buffer in PAC Memory
1 msec time stamping
SNTP or Time Sync by local GPS receiver
Collection
- Proficy Historian or Microsoft SQL
- 1 per second collection via Ethernet
- Up to 32 PACSystems (8192 digital inputs)
- Sustained rate of 400 events/sec/PACSystems
- 12,800 events/sec sustained rate
RX3i ENIU with SOE
Up to 4 modules (128 digital inputs/rack)
32,000 event buffer in PAC Memory
SNTP or Time Sync by local GPS receiver
Transient Event Annunciation to Main Rack Controller
Collection
- Proficy Historian or Microsoft SQL
- Sub second collection via Ethernet
- Up to 32 ENIU (4096 digital inputs)
- Sustained rate of 400 events/sec/ENIU
- 12,800 events/sec sustained rate

RX3i Soft SOE: The RX3i CPU scans the IO

modules every millisecond. All configured
SOE points are stored into the PAC SOE buffer,
which is periodically transferred over Ethernet to the Historian collector. The Historian
collector then immediately stores the SOE
data into the Proficy Historian database

RX3i ENIU with SOE: The RX3i ENIU scans

the IO modules every millisecond. All configured SOE points are stored into the ENIU SOE
buffer. Very fast point changes that would
normally not be seen by the head controller can now be captured and stored in the
ENIU. Each event is annunciated to the head
controller in the IO exchange and frequently
transferred over Ethernet to the Historian
collector, which accumulates the data from
all of the ENIUs and stores it directly into the
Proficy Historian database.
