Scope of Work
This project is located in Batinah Region on existing Batinah Highway in the Wilayat Sohar and
consists of construction of an interchange in place of existing roundabout along with allied works.
Total length of the project along Batinah highway is about 4.0 km which shall be converted from four
lanes to six lanes with tapering back to 4lanes, all as shown on plans. Also included in the scope of
work is the construction of service roads, pedestrian underpasses.
The work also includes expropriation of properties, relocation/protection of services (sewerage,
telephone, electricity, water, irrigation) road lighting works and traffic signals.
Major items within the scope of work consist of but not limited to the following:
Removal of existing asphalt surface, extension of existing embankment and earthwork to achieve
the designed profile and gradient.
Removal of existing drainage structures and construction of new ones including protection works
as shown on construction drawings and as directed.
Expropriation of open/built up properties and removal of existing structures thereupon.
Construction of interchange ramps, Box Girder Bridge, roundabout, pedestrian underpasses and
service roads.
Provision of new street lighting system/traffic signals and removal/disposal of existing street light
poles including conductors/cables, transformers, feeder pillars, foundations etc., all for the
proper completion of the job.
Construction of earthen embankment/sub grade, sub-base, aggregate base course, bituminous base
course and bituminous wearing course as per details on the construction drawings.
Installation of road side furniture (traffic signs, road marking etc.) and protection works on
embankment slopes.
Relocation/Protection of existing LT, 11KV and 33KV transmission lines and allied items
(transformers etc.) as per the requirements of concerned authority.
Relocation/Protection of existing utilities (sewerage, telephone, electricity, water lines and
irrigation) as per the requirements of concerned authorities.
Provision of ducts for future utilities as per the requirements of utility operator.
Construction of concrete safety barriers, fixing of guard rails and paving tiles.
Provision of traffic diversion in coordination with concerned authorities.

Engineers Comments
The percentage of progress as per the construction program is 23.21%.
The percentage of progress as per the actual work is 10.66%.
There is a shortfall of 12.55% in progress which needs to be recovered in the
coming 03 months.
Traffic is diverted on to the Detours on 03.05.2014 early hours and traffic is moving
smoothly without any hiccups.
Construction works for relocation of Falaj completed in 190m out of 270m.
Load testing of 02 no. expendable piles and 02 no. working piles completed and the
results are in compliance with standards.
Pile Foundation works are completed for all Piers except Pier No. 4 by 22.05.2014.
