Format For The Industrial Training Report
The information I shared here is valid for the industrial trainees under my
supervision only. I would suggest other trainees (whom are not under my
supervision but run into this page for information), kindly refer your
academic and industrial supervisors to understand their preference. Of
course, I am happy to share this format out, if you think this guide is helpful
for your report construction.
VI. Abstract
Make the abstract in one paragraph on one page only. You are advised to
write this after you have completed your industrial training programme
before you submit your report. To construct an abstract, please follow the
guidance.
A good abstract should address five following sections:
1. Introduction/background
Summarise, preferably in two/three sentence(s), information (history,
nature of the business, competitive advantage) of the organisation which
you have conducted your industrial training programme. Match this section
with Chapter One.
2. Objective(s) of the Industrial Training Programme
Here, you should state the objective(s) of the industrial training programme.
Please get the objective(s) by following the handbook from the Faculty.
3. Your Duties in the Organisation
In a few short sentences, explain your duties/responsibilities when you
were conducting your industrial training programme at the organisation.
Match this section with Chapter Two.
4. Results
It is important to give the results of the industrial training on what have you
learned, what are the theories you have adopted to resolve the problems
you encountered (or to perform your duties) as well as innovative solutions
suggested.
You should not just write about the subjective terms I did X and I did Y.
Rather in the form By using Porter (1985) SWOT Analysis, I adopted this
framework in You need to choose which results to report here. They
should be the most important results in your study that match your Chapter
Three and Chapter Four. Do not include a table or figure here.
5. Conclusions
Limit to one or two sentences of why you think your results are important,
and their potential implications to the organisation. Keep your conclusions
reasonable and supportable by the findings of your study. Match this
section with Chapter Five.
