VI. Abstract
Make the abstract in one paragraph on one page only. You are advised to
write this after you have completed your industrial training programme
before you submit your report. To construct an abstract, please follow the
guidance.
A good abstract should address five following sections:
1. Introduction/background
Summarise, preferably in two/three sentence(s), information (history,
nature of the business, competitive advantage) of the organisation which
you have conducted your industrial training programme. Match this section
with Chapter One.
2. Objective(s) of the Industrial Training Programme
Here, you should state the objective(s) of the industrial training programme.
Please get the objective(s) by following the handbook from the Faculty.
3. Your Duties in the Organisation
In a few short sentences, explain your duties/responsibilities when you
were conducting your industrial training programme at the organisation.
Match this section with Chapter Two.
4. Results
It is important to give the results of the industrial training on what have you
learned, what are the theories you have adopted to resolve the problems
you encountered (or to perform your duties) as well as innovative solutions
suggested.
You should not just write about the subjective terms I did X and I did Y.
Rather in the form By using Porter (1985) SWOT Analysis, I adopted this
framework in You need to choose which results to report here. They
should be the most important results in your study that match your Chapter
Three and Chapter Four. Do not include a table or figure here.
5. Conclusions
Limit to one or two sentences of why you think your results are important,
and their potential implications to the organisation. Keep your conclusions
reasonable and supportable by the findings of your study. Match this
section with Chapter Five.

Chapter 3: Industrial Training Assignments [past tense]

Emphasis on the Application of Theories on Problem Solving along the
Industrial Training Programme.
-This chapter stands the highest marks.
-This is the chapter which will explain what you have learned from your
industrial supervisor(s).
-Most importantly, this is the chapter which will elaborate how far you
have adopted the theories to solve the problems# you encountered.
-You need to cite the scholars. Please refer
http://bcchewteachingblog.blogspot.com/p/how-to-write-good-academicassignment_22.html
-It is entirely your responsibility to make sure that you are fully aware this
requirement and put it into your duties. You must be proactive and keep
reminding your industrial supervisor(s) and let him/her/them know that you
will be assessed on this important criterion which you must comply with.
-It is great if you can relate the theories within your course (BTECTechnopreneurship, BTMM-High Technology Marketing, BTMI-Technology
Management and Innovation) into your duties.
-When you write up your report, you can:
(a) Describe them according the task-by-task basis; or
(b) Present a continuous description on different tasks which you have
performed; or
(c) Describe according to the project-by-project basis which you have
undertaken.
#Problem solving means what you have done to perform your duties. This
means, the requirements of a duty are problems. That is why you are
employed to solve these problems (as your duty) if this makes sense.
#It could also mean any real problem that you encountered, or have been
assigned to have it solved.
*Present at least five cases of problem solving by using different theories
(non-repetitive). If you can write them all out (provided the cases are those
significant and interesting), you stand a higher chance to have this report
scored.
-You can also elaborate any device, appliance, technology which you have
used to execute your duties.

Chapter 4: Innovative Suggestions to Overcome the

Problems/Weaknesses Detected [past tense, present tense, future tense]
-This chapter stands the second highest marks.
-This is the chapter which will assess on how creative/innovative you are.
-After you have gone through in performing your duties in the organisation,
you are expected to detect any problem/weakness that has not been
resolved by the organisation. You must be able to come out with
innovative suggestions to resolve these problems/weaknesses.
-This is not only going to be useful for the organisation (contributing to the
organisations operations and improvement) but also going to demonstrate
(to your supervisors) the quality of your ideas and suggestions through
critical thinking.
Writing your Chapter 4:
Alternatively you can write your work in paragraphs and sectionalise
accordingly.
-Problem 1: WWW [past tense]
Innovative suggestions for Problem 1: It is suggested that..XXXXX
[present tense or future tense]
-Problem 2: YYY [past tense]
Innovative suggestions for Problem 2: ZZZZZ [present tense or future
tense]
