FILM: 3 Idiots
Edited and Directed by Rajkumar Hirai
Produced by Vidhu Viod Chopra.
Abhijat Joshi wrote the screenplay.
1. This movie is a loose adaptation of an Indian novel Five Point Someone written
by Chetan Bhagat. It narrates the experiences of the main characters, Rancho,
Farhan, and Raju with their struggles and awkward moments in their college life.
The story began with Farhan and Raju looking for their missing friend Rancho.
There were information that Rancho was spotted in one place and this made the
two decide to look and find for him. As they were about to look for their friend,
they met Chatur. Chatur was always second only to Rancho in their academic
days but at present he is already one of those successful in their batch. As they
look for Rancho, they reminisced their hilarious past with their Dean, Mr. Viru. At
the end of the story, the three idiots were reunited and Chatur was once again
humiliated having known that he will never surpass what Rancho did. He was in
fact and still remains to be the most successful among them.
2. The movie presented the life of a college student in a rank/grade-oriented
institution. It depicts the notion that a student should and must be the number

one in the class, for according to Dr. Viru, the first one is always the best and will
always be remembered. The second and the rest of the students will, less likely,
be unsuccessful. The movie also stressed the problems of a student, especially
in choosing what profession they are to pursue. One of the characters was only
forced to take up engineering although he likes photography.
The depiction of the author of the situation of the college students in India is still
relevant and accurate. Many of those who pursue college education choose
engineering for financial purposes as it gives them a door to any international
companies such as in Europe. With this many of the parents ask their children to
pursue engineering to catapult their financial status.
3. Many say that the happiest school days can be found in high school; indeed, it is
true. This is the stage where a lot of new beginning had been experienced by a
teen-ager/minor student. At this stage also, a student begins to have a
prospective glimpse of his life in the future. It is the stage where one chooses his
life. And the first step to attain such life is to choose the course or specialization
of his choice. Unfortunately, many students do not get what they choose but what
their parents choose for them. As sad at it may seem, this practice is still
happening.
4. Back when I graduated from high school, I was not sure yet of what course or
specialization should I take. I was left with no idea regarding the difficulty of
choosing a course that will define my future. Only one thing is for sure, I was
prepared to enter the seminary at that time. I only took one exam, entrance exam
of the seminary, and nothing else.
At first, I was hesitant to tell my parents about my plan of entering the seminary
but I have no other choice but to tell them. Fortunately, they were supportive of
my decision and let me enter the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette
Seminary although at first they want to take up Accountancy or take up
Mechanical Engineering just like my father.
5. Many of the youth of todays generation wanted to venture into higher paying
courses such as taking up Medicine, Science sources, and in special fields of
Engineering. Unfortunately, sometimes dream courses cannot be financed by
their parents prompting them to take up other courses sacrificing their field of
choice. This practice is still present. Some of my friends were ask to take up a
course that was not their priority. A friend of mine was forced to take accountancy
although he would like education. This problem may be attributed to the lack of
financial capabilities and for future gain of their families.
In the movie, it was depicted that although one of the main characters would ike
to take up Photography, his parents had never heed him. Still Raju was forced to
take up Engineering even if it was not his choice. Fortunately, towards the end of
the story, he was allowed to choose what he likes. One notable learning that the

movie would like to instill in this present community is that, we must be positive
and look for ways to chase the dreams wanted to achieve.
2. This song was originally in a foreign language which was later on translated to
Vietnamese. It is about a curious child asking her mother about things that she
might become in the future and the mother would simply answer, que sera sera
which literally means whatever will be, will be.

Our throats are not yet dry, our heads not yet
heavy, our eyes not yet blurry,
Our arms are limber still, and our steps not
yet tottering.
We haven't reached the end of Euphoria, nor
the bound of Debauchery.
Not yet drunk, our thirsty souls still crave
more spirits.
Get drunk! Get drunk, baby!
Drunk with the lascivious light
Till the music wobbles, till the flesh goes
wild.
More wine, more wine, and forget, forget all!
Now dead drunk,
My colors have gone out fading,
The room becomes unsteady.
Who presses the illusion to my lips?
My feet are exhausted
Unable to whirl any longer.
My worn-out knees ready to drop
For the red-hot liquor, now inflaming my
senses.
So drunk the world lost reality.
But, O dear!
Though heaven and earth have toppled,
The wall of Melancholy in front still holds.
Heaven and earth collapse,
Yet the Melancholy wall does not tumble,
baby!

1. Song Viet Dam Giang quotes the poet Mong Tuyet as saying that the young Vu
Hoang Chuong, the author of this literary piece, at the time of writing had suffered an
unsuccessful love, and was given to alcohol and opium. This poem is an outcry of
lovesick pain that he felt while trying to dissipate it in a bout at a night club. Yet neither
the dance with the bar girl nor the wine was the remedy for his permeating sadness that
rose in front of him like an immovable wall. 4 The poem is an expression of mans grief
towards his failure on getting into a relationship.
2. The poem embodies a story of a failed relationship between two lovers. The man
became unsuccessful in courting the girl of is dream went into drinking and partying. As

he proceed through the night, he reminisce the beautiful characteristics of his love.
However, as what the author describes it, the color of his love has already faded away.
At that same night, he met someone but nonetheless, his love from is unsuccessful
relation was prove to be more powerful. In the end, he just literally drank all his
frustrations.

2. The piece was written during the Lushan Rebellion period. The author showed the
symbolist approach of describing war the rebellion had brought to him community and to
China as a whole. Chinas beauty was devastated by the wrath shown in the nature.
Clearly, during those times, it was not only the humans who were affected, animals and
the nature, too, was completely ravaged. Indeed, war brings one of those loneliest and
most times in the world.
1. God of Gamblers (Chinese: ; lit. God of Gambling) is a 1989 Hong Kong action
comedy-drama film. Wong Jing (Chinese: ; pinyin: Wng Jng) is a Hong Kong film
director, producer, actor, presenter, and screenwriter. A prolific filmmaker with strong
instincts for crowd-pleasing and publicity, Wong Jin has played a prominent role in the
Hong Kong cinema of the last quarter-century.Wong was born in Hong Kong, the son of
noted film director Wong Tin-Lam. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong
Kong with a degree in Chinese literature which he describes as "useless". 6 The literary
piece is complete diversion of the traditional Chinese literature into a modern adaptation
of comedy and western lifestyle incorporating therein Chinese martial arts.
2. One of the three parts of the story depicted a story about a young man who has the
ability to look on things that are not transparent. He can see through walls, giving him

the ability to look at the hidden numbers from the card of his opponent. Aside from this
ability, he can also change a card into any card he wishes to, like for example an ace of
heart into ace of diamonds. The young man uncle, also a gambler, saw this ability as an
advantage for him to be rich in gambling. He encouraged the young man to be involved
in gambling earning him a lot of money. The ability however does not always work
especially when the young man is not inspired whenever his dream girl is not present.
