    Realisation Approach

    1. Design Document: This is a detailed document which will have information like the Business Justification
    of the usage of the report, Author of the Report, Logic Applied to calculate the output etc.
    This document will be in the form of excel sheet with different tabs inside it or in a word format with all
    the information mentioned as individual points.
    Different Tabs or Headings may have following points (Sample, Only for Reference)

    Cover Page: This tab will have information about the Document Control like author of the report,
    reference document, publish date, reviewer name etc.

    Business Justification: This tab will contain information about the business justification if a
    custom report will suffice the need of the business requirement. Also this mention why the
    respective standard report will not fulfil the requirements.

    Input & Restrictions: A list of Fields with properties of types of restrictions like optional or
    mandatory, single value or multiple value, if range or not, default values if any etc.

    Output and Business Logic: This tab will have the information on the specific output and the logic
    used to extract that output by processing the data which came into BW system from the source
    system. This will also help in some sort of reconciliation process of the data between the
    systems as same business logic can be applied on source system side and that very output can
    be generated.

    Authorisations: This should contain the information about the authorisations and access which
    will be given to users based on their roles and responsibilities. For Example- A finance person
    will be able to see only the finance reports or a Sales Rep will see just only the sales reports.

    Legacy Report: This tab will hold the information of the current report which is being used by the
    business to fetch the data or output.

    2. Functional Specification Document: This is a very detailed document usually prepared by a Functional
    Consultant and contains information about the functional aspect of the business and logic of that aspect
    which explains the importance of the business process. This will mention the technical information on
    the source system side like table names, field names, technical attributes of the fields etc.
    3. Technical Specification Document: This is a detailed document of the technical information on the
    business warehouse side like the BW system. This will explain the data model, data flow, info objects etc
    4. Content Activation and Development: This will help us in understanding where we can activate the
    standard business content provided by SAP to suffice the business needs and where we have to make

    custom reports for the business. We can take help of the standard SAP documentation which explain us
    about the various properties of the Data Sources, Reports etc available.
    5. Extraction and Data Migration: A detailed plan will be laid in order to plan an error free data extraction
    from source system to BW system for various data models or data flows. Data migration plans are also
    made in order to migrate data from one system to another system based on certain conditions or
    predefined set of rules.
