Joyous 11
This spiritual uplifting album was recorded live before a packed and vibrant audience at the Sun City
Superbowl on 11 November 2006 as part of Joyous Celebration’s 10th anniversary celebration because in the
past ten years this formidable choral outfit and band had become a gospel institution and a springboard for
raw talent
Featured on the 18 track Joyous 11 album are gospel greats such as Sipho Makhabane singing “Zawa
Indonga”, Mthunzi Namba rendering “Amen”, the talented Ntokozo Mbambo doing “In the Shadow” and the
group’s album is never complete without its stalwarts, Jabu Hlongwane and Vuyo Mokoena adding the
required Holy fire to this album
Joyous Celebration is an academy of excellence for those who dream of hitting the big time. As a minefield of
latent talent, the rough gems it has polished into shining diamonds ranges from jazz stars to gospel greats.
Names such as, Nokukhanya Dlamini, Sabata Masoka, Ntokozo Mbambo, Margaret Motsage, the late Wendy
Mseleku, and the award winning Ernie Smith and Swazi Dlamini easily come to mind. Joyous Celebration has
made an illustrious contribution to South African music in general and gospel in particular.
At the core of this choral outfit’s outstanding success is the charismatic leadership of Mthunzi Namba, Jabu
Hlongwane and the maestro, Lindelani Mkhize. As the group’s co-founders they have provided their charges
with the technical expertise and artistic experience to reach greater heights in this tough music industry.
The sweet voices of the group have entertained audiences even beyond our borders. Their first major
overseas tour was in 2004 when they blessed packed auditoriums in the UK. They got standing ovation at all
their performances although they sang in African languages.
The group has worked with some of America’s US top gospel artists including Ray Chew, musical director at
the Apollo Theatre in New York and Anthony Faulkner, a gospel singer who lists Yolanda Adams amongst
many first rate artists he has collaborated with.
This Joyous Celebration 11 album is bound to add blessings to the loyal followers who have so far pushed
sales figures of all the group’s albums to 1.5 million units during the past 11 years
