TPR Lesson Plan

- Learner Profile
Age: 7 - 11
Language Level: Beginners
Number of Ss: 24
Stage of Cognitive Develop: Concrete Operational.
Reasons for Learning: Like English Sent by their parents.
Relevant Info: Some of the students do not like much English because they have
difficulties to understand it.
Topic: Parts of the House (Vocabulary).
Objective: Ss. will be able to build up sentences using their basic speaking skills.

Warm Up: Storm game


Aim: Ss. will play a game to wake them up.
Procedure:
-Step 1: Have Ss. arrange 5 rows using their chairs resulting in a square.
-Step 2: Every Ss. must take a chair and sit on it.
-Step 3: T. will say A wave to the left/right Ss. will move to the direction that T.
says.
-Step 4: When T. says Storm Ss. Have to change to another line without crossing
through the middle of the lines and so on.
-Step 5: T. will also play and Ss. left standing must give the next instruction.
Ex. T. will be the first to give an instruction and then take a chair and Ss. Left
standing will give the next instruction and so on.
Materials: -chairs, Ss. Participation.
Time: 5 minutes.
Preparation: In case of this game cant be played, Simon says activity is going to
be done.

High Challenge: Moving in


Aim: Ss. will be able to identify the items that they can find in certain parts of a
house.
Procedure:
-Step 1: The class will be divided into 5 teams.
-Step 2: Teacher will explain the students that they are moving in and they have to
accommodate the furniture in each room.
-Step 3: The teacher will draw an empty house on the board.
-Step 4: The teacher will bring the students flash cards to fill each part of the
house.
-Step 5: Each team has to put one item for each room of the house.
-Materials: Flash cards, tac, markers, board and Ss. active participation.
-Time: 10 minutes.
-Preparation: In case this activity cant be done, Ss. Will write down a furniture in a
piece of paper and T. will divide the classroom in four parts and each part Ss. will
imagine that is the kitchen, living room, dining room and bathroom and they have
to get in to the correct place according to their furniture they have chosen.

Low Challenge: Competition Game


Activity 1
Aim: Students will be able to identify correctly the parts of the house.
Procedure:
-Step 1: The class will keep the same teams (5 teams).
-Step 2: The teacher will paste the parts of the house on the board.
-Step 3: T. will make a description of a part of the house, and one member of each
team (whoever) has to sign the correct part of the house.
Ex: In this place you can find glasses, plates, spoons and focks, so, in which part
of the house you are?
-Step 4: The first who touch the correct picture will win a point.
-Step 5: The first team to get 5 points wins.
Materials: Card game, tac, Markers and Ss. participation.
Time: 5 minutes.

Preparation:
In case this activity cant be done, T. will give a description of a part of the house
and Ss. have to guess in which part of the house they are?

Activity 2
Aim: Ss. will be able to follow commands and identify what you can do in each part
of the house.
Procedure:
-Step 1: T. will give certain instructions and Ss. will be moved with commands
such as: Wash your hands, comb your hair, etc.
-Step 2: After that the T. gave 5 commands, T. will ask the students to say where
they could have been done.
Brush your teeth
Take a nap
Eat your food
Wash the dishes
Read a book
In this activity, I will give you 5 commands, and youll repeat and do the mimic
*Now, in which part of the house I can take a nap?
-Step 3: T. will give 5 commands per each part of the house.

-Materials: Commands
-Time: 5 min

-Preparation:
In case this activity cant be done, the class will play a game called Mar y Tierra.

WRAP-UP:
-Aim: Ss. will be able to recognize some simple orders that we use commonly.
-Procedure:

-Step 1: T. will bring the students a piece of paper.


-Step 2: Have the Ss. to choose a classmate.
-Step 3: Ss. will write on the paper 3 common things that we do every day using
the imperative form.
-Step 4: Ss. have to explain the classmate that he/she is supposed to do those
things the next day.
Ex. Ss. will bring the paper to a classmate with some sentences Tomorrow
comb your hair, wash your shoes, etc.
-Materials: papers, pencils
-Time: 3-5 minutes
-Preparation:
In case the teacher forgot the papers, T. will ask the students to say what they
have learnt in the class. And T. will ask some students at random to say 3 orders.
