[Pneumatic Pressure
Grease Pump]
[PROBLEM ANALYSYS AND SOLVING METHOD]

General:
Pneumatic pressure is the pressure exerted by a pressurized gas.
Compressed air is commonly used for this purpose.
What is pneumatic pressure grease pump? Grease pumps are designed
for transferring grease from drum to where it would be used.

Compressed air operated reciprocating pumps are designed for high

pressure greasing.
Be applicable to the manipulation of all types of grease from its original
drums.
The pumps can be supplied as separate components or as a complete
system with all the elements.
The pumps can be assembled on mobile units as well as on fixed
positions, connected to steel pipes.

Objective:
The objective in this report is used to investigate and resolving the
malfunctioning pneumatic pressure grease pump.

PAGE 1

Found:
1. Remove each part of grease pump to investigate the inner problem.
2. The inner part of grease pump contains a lots of unserviceable grease
and the grease stick on surrounding of tube and pump this might due
to lake of maintenance service.
3. The connection tube (No. 13 in diagram 1.0) have minor rusting. Refer
to Appendix
4. The Piston shell (No. 14 in diagram 1.0) have minor rusting. Refer to
Appendix
5. Some O-ring broken.

Solution:
1. The unusable grease in inner part of the pump is cleaned by 601
Valve Cleaner solution. Refer to Diagram 2.0
2. Wash each part of the pump with the cleaner solution again and dry it
with cotton rag.
3. For the rusting tube, grinder is used to grind over the rusting area.
4. Replace the broken O-ring with new one.
5. Last, assemble all part together and prepare for further testing.

Low Pressure Test:

As shown in Diagram 3.0, the pressure tube is inserted to grease pump
connector. Initially, slight amount of pressure injected to the grease pump to
ensure the pump is safe to sustain further pressure test. Subsequently, the
pressure is increase gradually and the operator must certify the grease pump
is running smoothly within the test. Refer to Appendix.

Grease Pumping test:

Last, the rod of the grease pump place in the grease tank. The grease
pump connect with a moveable tube and pressure injected to the pump. Once
the pressure apply into grease pump, the pump should sufficiently pump up
the grease from the grease tank to the moveable tube. As result shown in
Diagram 4.0, the grease pump is work perfectly during the final test. Thus,
the whole maintenance for the grease pump is completed.
