SUBJECT:
Description of Proposed Changes
This request for proposal is neither a change in the subject Contract, nor an order to the Contractor to
perform any work. However, it pertains to certain proposed modifications to the work covered by said
contract. Th e provisions, drawings and specifications of said Contract and previous modifications thereto
will apply, as applicable, unless specifically indicated otherwise herein.
The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea hereby requests that the Contractor submit within ten (10) working days
after receipt of this request a proposal to make the changes described herein. All changes to the Contract
Price and Contract Time should be detailed for each separate item listed. Detailed breakdown must include
deductive or added cost for all labor, equipment, materials and all applicable mark-ups.
Nothing written in th is Request for Proposal will obligate the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea to incur any costs nor
change the Contract Time unless such changes are included in an approved Contract Change Order.

Request:
The existing Finish Floor elevation for the Indoor Theater is 259.60. Going off the elevation shown at top of the new ramp and wood
deck the elevation is called out as 260.00. The new wood deck is to be raised level to the existing threshold (keynote 6 on A2.4).
There is a difference of 00.40 in the elevation from the new wood deck and existing finish floor threshold .
Also there is an existing furnace closest on the outdoor deck. Raising the deck will block access to the existing closet and block the
existing vents (attached photo). The furnace closet is not shown to be removed.
Please advise.

Response:
New level of wood deck to be 259.55' (5/8" below interior FF and 1/8" below metal
door threshold). See 4/A6.2 tor threshold detail. Elevation of landing at accessible
parking to remain at 260.7' per C1.1. 1:20 path from wood deck to landing to
become ramp@ 1:12 max. Provide handrails with 12" extensions at top and
bottom of ramp.
See attached CA-18.
For furnace closet, cut door so bottom is 2'' above new deck level. Provide built-up
curb at sil' such that sill is 1" above new deck level. Remove and fill (E) vents on
south side of closet cut new vents above deck level.
