Program Learning Outcome
There was 1 family who missed the waikele shopping mall shuttle
because they didnt know exact pick up location. They were not
late but they just confused which street. However our tour guide
already left and other customers were waiting too. I learned
aloha spirit in the hospitability class. So I requested to our tour
guide to go to other pick up place first and come back later to pick
them up. I explained to them right location by the phone and
shuttle would be late so wait a little bit. They agreed that shuttle
would be late and other customers were fine without waiting time.
All customers took the shuttle completely. Fast decision making is
very necessary.
Through the HOST100 class in KCC, I learned about customer
service skills. One of the important things was listening skills. To
achieve guest satisfaction, it is very important to listen carefully. I
had elder customers and they were so slow to talk but I had a lot
of work to do. It was kind of busy situation. However, I tried to
listen to the end and help them make a reservation.
Through the HOST259 marketing class in KCC, I practiced a lot
about the team work. During the whole semester, we have one
team and we all work together. To work for the team project, we
communicate a lot and decide a lot as one mind. It helped me in
my real workplace. One day, it was bad weather, all the skydiving
tours were canceled, as soon as I heard that news, I first texted to
all the customers using copy and paste keyboard fast. My
coworkers felt thankful to me because they supposed to call to
each one of them. I informed simply and fast. Whoever got the
text, they called to our office. And everything went through
smoothly. I learned how to work as a team through the practice in
school.
Through the HOST290 Management class, I learned a lot from the
professor. She emphasized the importance of being a manager. I
learned what kind of qualification is needed to be a manager.
Manager has to have a power to manage the group, it requires
polite and accurate attitude all the time. When I was doing the
intern at travel agency, there was one rude customer who is
ordering some tour without politeness to my coworker. So I went to
her desk and helped my coworker to explain about the tour double
times more politely to customer. After our kind explanation, he
became not rude at the end and made a reservation as he
wanted. Even though, I am not a manager yet, It was very nice to
