OBJECT
The purpose of the pre sent document is to establish the operational in structions for the UPS
System, applicable in situations of normal operation, start- up, shutdown and emergency, for
this system of the project for the Siddhirganj 335 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant.
This document provides information so that the UPS System is operated in a safe and
controlled way. It also e stablishes requirements and precautions to operate the system in a
safe with respect to the installation, personal and environment.

(10BRU10).
Inverter 12 0 kVA (40 C), input 1 10 Vdc (+10%, -15%), output 230 Vac (1%)
(10BRU20).
LV/LV Bypass Transformers 100 kVA, 400 (2Ph) / 230 V (1Ph+N) (10BRT10).
LV/LV Bypass Transformers 100 kVA, 400 (2Ph) / 230 V (1Ph+N) (10BRT20).
In normal operation, the UPS System is always in operat ion, in order to feed the critical loads
of the power plant that require uninterruptible alternating current.
In normal o peration co nditions, all equipment (Inverters, Static Transfer Switches, Bypass
Transformer and Uninterruptible LV Distribution Board) are always in service. The Bypass
Transformers are in no load because the Uninte rruptible LV Distribution Board is fed from the
Inverters.
In normal operation, th e Uninterruptible LV Distribution B oard 10BRA10/10BRA2 0 operates
with the two incoming circuit breake rs closed a nd the coup ling circu it b reaker opened. The

busbars e lectrically cou pled and ph ysically sep arated. Each inverter is connected to one of
the half-busbars of the DC Distribution Boards 10BUA10/10BUA20.
In normal operation, th e feeding to the critical loads of AC system 2 30 Vac will be made
through the two (2) inverters fed from the DC Distribution Boards at 110 Vdc.
The two (2) Uninterruptible LV Distr ibution Boards 10BRA10 and 10BR A20 are decoupled in
normal operation.
In case of voltage failur e in the LV Main Distribution Board 10BMA10/1 0BMA20, the inverters
are fed from the batteries without interruption.
Another operation mode is that the critical loads are fed fro m the LV Main Distribution Board
10BMA10/10BMA20 through the L V/LV Bypas s Transformers 10BRT10 and 10BRT20. Th is
operation mode is automatically used in situations in which a failure occurs in the inverters or
DC system.
The LV/LV Bypass Transformers will be connected to the Static Transfer Switch.
In case of failure of one of the inverters, the load from thi s inverter wi ll be transmitted to his
LV/LV Bypass Transformer.
In this case and in case of failure of the invert er and the LV/LV Bypa ss transfor mer of the
same side, the coupling circuit breakers could be closed and the full load will be fed from the
inverter of the other side.
In case
of failure

In case of f ailure of tw o inverters and one of the LV/LV Bypass Transformers, the couplin g

The output circuit breakers that feed the different loads will be normally closed.

Each static transfer switch con sists of two thyristors group s in ant i-parallel that make the
function of static switch for alternating current. The first group is the static swit
