First / Second Conditional Chains Game

The object of the game is to create a first or second conditional chain

where the last clause of a statement becomes the first clause of the next
statement (example games below).
Method
Divide your class into two teams. One team will be the if clause
team, the other the result clause team.
Toss a coin to decide which team starts.
A player from the winning team must come to the front of the class
and speak a correctly structured clause - if or result depending on
which team theyre with. Any topic can be used.
A player from the second team must then come to the front of the
class and speak a correctly structured matching clause.
Each correct clause should be written on the board (see example).
If any player makes an error (see scoring), they must return to their
team and another player must come to the front and try.
The game continues like this until all the players have been used in
either team.
The team with the highest score wins.
Scoring
If a player makes one of the following errors, a point is awarded to
the opposing team.
o Incorrect conditional or other grammar structure
o Unrelated or non-matching clause. E.g. If it rains, I will feed
my dog.
Bonus points - If the last player on a team can create a clause that
matches both the previous and first clause of the game, the team
scores an extra 5 points. Team 1 must match the result clause of
the games first statement, Team 2 must match the if clause (see
examples below).
Rules
In the case of small classes or groups, to extend the game, a player
may be used twice. However, a player shouldnt be used again until
all the other members of his/her team have spoken. For larger
classes the player should speak only once.
A player who makes an error must return to their team.
Team members can briefly confer before their player steps to the
front of the class (this helps the weaker students), but set a short
time limit for this and stick to it.
Team members are not allowed to shout out prompts or answers
when their player is at the front of the class.

First / Second Conditional Chains Game

The correct clauses should be written on the board in sequence as

they are made.
Clauses should not be repeated in the game.

Example 1: Class of 18 students - First conditional

Team 1 made one error giving two points to Team 2
Team 2 made two errors giving two points to Team 1
The last player of Team 2 managed to make a clause that matched
the if clause of the first statement in the game, gaining 5 points to
win the game.
Team 1 were unable to use their last player, but would have won by
two points if Team 2 hadnt managed to get the bonus points.

the result clause of the first statement in the game, gaining 5
points to win the game.

finished as a draw if the last player of Team 2 gave a correct clause.
