INCEPTION 2016- List of Events and Rules

GENERAL RULES:

The decision of the judges is final and binding. No challenges by the other participants
will be entertained. Any flouting of this rule shall lead to immediate disqualification of
the individual(s) from all events.
Vulgarity or obscenity in any form will lead to immediate disqualification from that
particular event.
Registrations via e-mail ONLY, to be sent to register4inception@gmail.com. Subject of
email- Registration for *event name*. Body of the email to contain the details of
participants. One e-mail per event, any email containing simultaneous registration for two
events will not be considered.
Events with slot caps will be allotted on a first come first served basis depending upon
delivery time of the email for registration.
All registrations close at 11.59pm, 21-10-2016. No extension will be granted on any
grounds.

ON STAGE
Dance Events:
1. Classical (Indian):
i)
Any form of recognized Classical Dance.
ii)
Participants have a time of 4+1 minutes each to finish their performance.
iii)
Individual registration only. (Maximum of 5 slots)
2. Western:
i)
Any form of western dance.
ii)
Participants have a time of 4+1 minutes each to finish their performance.
iii)
Participants are allowed to register as a group of 4 to 6 members. (Maximum of 5
slots.
3. Fusion:
i)
Any form of dance is permitted, including the ones not mentioned in the two
segments given above. A minimum of three dance styles to be showcased in the
time provided.
ii)
Participants have a time of 4+1 minutes each to finish their performance.
iii)
Participants are allowed to register as a group of 4 to 6 members. (Maximum of 5
slots)
4. Adaptune:
i)
Participants will be dancing impromptu to music/songs that are played while they
are on stage.

ii)

They will be competing in matches of two, that is, two people on stage at a time,
with a knock out style progression to the finals of the event. Matches will be fixed
at random by draw of lots prior to the event. (Maximum 16 slots)

General:
1. Participants must provide their own music track; no songs can be requested by them from
the organizers at the time of their performance. (Rule not applicable to the event
Adaptunes)
Theatre:.
1. The performance must not exceed a total time of 10+2 minutes which will begin at the
organizers signal.
2. The Theme for the Theatre event is Life at TNNLS.
3. Registration is limited to the first three teams comprising of 6-8 participants.
Music:
1. Indian Classical:
i)
Songs must be solely Classical (Indian)
ii)
Participants are allowed to register as Solo singers ONLY. (Maximum of 10 slots)
iii)
Time: 4+1.
2. Everything Else:
i)
Any genre of music, any language, other than Classical.
ii)
Participants are allowed to register as Solo singers accompanied by a maximum of
three instruments. (Maximum of 10 slots)
iii)
No prerecorded music will be allowed.
iv)
Time: 4+1
3. Bathroom Singing:
i)
Any genre of music, any language, other than Classical.
ii)
Participants who are not regular singers and sing only for the fun of singing may
register. If youre really good, we will disqualify you. Winner will be the most
entertaining and confident bad singer. (Maximum of 5 slots)
iii)
No prerecorded music will be allowed.
iv)
Time: 1+1 minutes.
Stand Up:

The theme for this event will be Death of Intellectualism


Individual participation (Maximum of 5 slots)
Performance time: 5+2 minutes.
Students are advised to refrain from the use of profanity.
Block & Tackle:

1. Proposition will be provided on the spot.


2. Participants will have to propose (block/defend) or oppose (tackle/attack) the proposition.

3. Propositions will not be heavily debate oriented. Sample proposition: Neeraj Grover is
the sexiest man to have walked on the TNNLS campus: Block and Tackle.
4. Switching block/tackle will be at the Judges discretion.
5. Individual participation (Maximum of 5 slots)
6. Performance time: 5+1 minutes.
Shipwreck:
1. Character will be given in advance. Participants are expected to use props as and when
required.
2. Individual participation (Maximum of 5 slots)
3. Performance time: 5+1 minutes.
Grand Parade:
1. Participants are expected to maintain a decent standard of dressing. Music required for
the show must be provided on a pendrive to the OC before the event.
2. Compere for the show is allowed to speak only after the walkers finish.
3. Teams are advised to choose a theme for their show, which will also be a criterion of
judging.
4. One team per batch- IV Year BA, III BA, III BCom, II BA, II BCom, I BA, I BCom.
Team may comprise of a maximum of 10 participants.
5. Performance time: 7+2 minutes.
OFF STAGE EVENTS
Short Film Making:

Genres limited to comedy, horror, romance and tragedy.


Participants to submit their entries under the directors name.
Minimum of two TNNLSites are to appear in the short film as actors.
No limit on outside help/number of crew/ actors.
Time- 10 minutes.
Entries to be submitted on 23-10-2016 in a pendrive to the OC.
Best entries will be screened at Inception.
Photography:

Individual event.
Only one entry per student.
Theme of the event: Hostel life, TNNLS.
OC remains indemnified from any grievance regarding violation of privacy rights of the
subject matters of the entries. Participants are advised to seek permission before
photographing any particular subject.
5. Entries to be submitted along with registration mail, before close of registrations.

Mask Painting:

Basic white mask will be provided by the OC.


Participants are required to bring any other material required by them.
Individual participation.
Time: 30 minutes.
Best mask will be framed and presented to Shri. V.Arun Roy as a token of respect.

DAY 3 SPECIAL EVENT


(Not Treasure Hunt!)
Escape!
1. Participants can register only in teams of six.
2. Participants are not allowed to carry their cell phones or any other devices that can be
used in lieu of a torch light into the venue for the event. Arrangements will be made by
the OC for the same.
3. Participants will have a maximum time of 15 minutes from entry into the venue to exit,
after finding the required items, which will be specified at the time of the event. Happy
