hello guru, i need some help regarding modifications made on bp.conf. I read some articles on it but not so sure.
For example, I’ll add a new media server in the client’s, done `telnet clientname bpcd`, `bptestbpcd …`,
`bpclntcmd …` and got a connection, should this be enough that my jobs won’t fail on connectivity issue? Or do I
need to re-read the config file [w/o rebooting]? Or anything you can suggest? Is this the same across Unices? For
Windows?
Sorry too many questions. Just want to learn. TIA.

Normally if your client - media server - master server are pingable then there is no reason for communication
errors.
secondly you need to have master server, media server and client name in bp config file.
for some cases it works without restart and for some i have to restart it. its not hard and fast rule to restart the
server after installing.

Thanks for the step by step. What is the best way to do this remotely? Some of our servers don’t have CD-ROM
drives (T1000).

login to server
create a directory to place installation source
use ftp get command to put source on server
then install as described in SOP (Exclude: cd mount part).
feel free for further queries.
