When it comes to writing a story, usually that author of that story has a story of their own. Any
past events or situations in their lives in the past comprehend in what they write about in their story. Many
authors look back on their lives and see if they can make any stories out of it, any type of lessons or
tragedies that may have happen to them. Ray Bradbury, a known science fiction, horror and mystery
fiction author who truly believed in his works and supported his stories of what he believed and cherished
in his early life. In The Pedestrian and The last night of the world Bradbury goes in full depth in
fiction that he believed all through his early life and collaborates them into these stories.
Ray Bradbury started his writing career around 1931 when he was about eleven. Then as a gift,
he got a toy typewriter and there it all started, the stories started to come. In 1934 he was fourteen and
moved to los Angeles, there his career became more serious. Just three years later, Bradbury becomes part
of the science fiction league. In 1938 he graduated from Los Angeles high school and his educational
standpoint ended there. But not his passion or desire to write, in 1942 bradbury wrote The Lake that
he found his distinctive writing style and also where the stories were coming from. The interesting thing
about Bradbury was almost all of his short stories were from his childhood and life experiences he held.
For instance, Homecoming from 1944 was inspired by Bradbury's relatives and their Halloween parties.
Dark Carnival from 1947, a story based on simply Bradbury's Uncles. Bradbury didn't always stick to
the same writing style or genre. In 1947 after the carnival, Bradbury went to philosophical science
fiction. Where he wrote The Martian Chronicles based off the fear of Humankind. Many of
In The Pedestrian a story of where it's man vs society. One man, Mr.Mead the only character
but also civilian in the story. The story of where society is overruled or say controlled by television or of
its non regular activities.Mr.Mead in the story is introduced or say noticed as abnormal and outdated. He
is viewed as if he is from a different time period in society. As if he were just put there and didn't realized
his own society was gone.As he takes evening walks alone, he is stopped by a cop car. Not a cop, a cop
car. A car that pulls him away, sees his profession as not a profession, a hobby por say. They criticize
Mr.Mead's work and take him in. It was not unequal to walk through a graveyard where only the faintest
glimmers of firefly light appeared in flickers behind the windows. Sudden grey phantoms manifest upon
the inner room walls where a certain was still undrawn against the night. A he passes through the
houses in the streets, everything is gray phantoms. no signs of humanity, absolutely no lights except
from the windows of the houses from the televisions. As in the story, The Pedestrian, Bradbury
Mr. Bradburry shows yet again a separations in this short story. Bradbury tends to write or
include some type of differences in his short stories in his past. When bradbury was young he would
separate himself from others, work often in the libraries and just read. Create ideas for himself. Bradbury
tend to make this short story based off when he was growing up. Bradbury grew up different. I say
different due to he was never like the rest of the kids of his age. He began to write a lot of fictions when
he was younger. Bradbury was an intelligent kid growing up with not a lot of money sadly. To support
himself, he sold newspapers. Bradbury published his first book the year he graduated from high school
back in 1938. Bradbury was extremely intelligent, that led him to be a one of a kind author.
Many short stories have basic teachings and also lessons. But in this particular book, the state of
mind it leaves you in, is one that will leave you wondering. In The last night of the world it begins by a
husband asking his wife, What would you do if you knew that this was the last night of the world?" The
wife didn't know what to reply. She was simply confused, as her husband encourages her to really think
about it. He then tells her that night was the last night of the world. There was no announcement or a type

of warning they gave out. Just simply a dream the husband had. What was interesting was he wasn't the
only one. Apparently everyone else had the same dream. They were also calm about it. Even the wife had
the dream but didn't think much to come of it. The only struggle in the story was how they wanted to
spend the last night of the world but also to leave or close the door of their children's room. The decided
not to tell the kids but they didn't know what they would have liked.
Bradbury really digs deep into this story. Leaving you to read beyond more than just the lines but
also the meaning of it all. The story starts with What would you do if you knew that this was the last
night of the world?". Instantly engaging the reader but also the author. Bradbury retracting, looking back
in his past. Trying to maybe answer that question himself. This short story would be his answer. The
struggle of not only figuring out what to do on the last night of the world but to debate on leaving his
kids door open or not. To leave the sight of their kids sleeping or not. With everyone fine with death
around them, no stressing over what to do. Apparently felt fine, like if the dream gave them courage but
When it comes to writing short stories, most of the time theres two sides of the stories. There are
other contexts that inspire that author to write, other experiences in their life that cause them to free and
express themselves in their stores. Authors most of the time will write about the most recent experiences
but not Bradbury. Bradbury was inspired and got most of his ideas from his childhood. His family,
Hardships with being poor, uncle's, parties. Most of all of Bradbury's stories there are some type of
differences, or some unexpected turn in the story that cause the make of the point in the story.
