Mindmap of ideas for your installation

Create a mindmap showing ideas of how you might install your video.
Define what type(s) of visuals you will use.
(Eg. video cameras, still cameras, hand crafted artwork, film, animation, digital technologies)

I would use tablet to show the short film

another one would show a filmed interview
with him a synchronised split screen which
would include him answering questions when
hes round his mates at home to show the
contradiction of his two personalities the
surrounding s would contain drawings and
photos of him on one half would be normal
ethan and the other would be road man ethan

Idea 1 would be to use three projections one The third idea would be to split the film into
would be centred showing the short film on My
three the intro and where I came from music
right side would show Ethan making facial installation video , the second section would be the action
features applying to the scenes and the other scene and money on the roads music video and
would be him completing the movements the third would be the free music video. These
would be displayed on three tablets

Installation / set sketches

Draw a series of thumbnail sketches showing ideas for your installation. Add labels to your diagrams to
identify equipment, where the image will be seen, where the
audience will stand etc. Display of the music videos

This will be the point of view of the audience

Sound design
What sound will your Productions have
Because my piece is heavily based on the sounds from the production I would solely be playing
the sound track from my work

Will you use headphones or speakers for this sound?

Speakers

Why?
I would use surround sound speakers to help the viewer think they are in the story with
ethan

Lighting design

What lighting will you have in your installation? Consider health and safety.

The room would be dark with the lighting coming from only the screens to maximise attention to avoid
hazards these will be turned on and off during intervals
Unit 35 Installation Production Booklet

Projection vs screen
Will you project your video or play it on a screen?

Projections

Why? If you are using a screen, will you

use a single screen, or multiple
Projcetions would surround the room so u
feel your inside the head of Ethan screens?

Technological convergence

What is technological convergence?

Technological coverage is that as technology changes the systems evolve to perform similar tasks , the whole idea is making
previous tasks better and more accessible.

Will you be using this in your installation?

In some aspects

Explain your answer.

My project was filmed on a digital camera so the files could be used on a PC I used I created a premier file and
exported this to an AVI file allowing it to be shown on almost any machine e.g. an iPhone , laptop , tablet
The main technological convergence would be the usage of a tablet which is more mobile than computers has a
bigger screen than a mobile phone to take it that step further I would use a laptop as it has the same
characteristics to a tablet but has more advanced softwear and can be shown through a projector.

How have the following influenced your ideas?

work of the artists you have researched

I have used artists work of kanye west as an installation artist as he brought aspects of music videos to his
installation in the terms of mine I will be using records to represent the music behind the music videos

venue and facilites

the gallery we will be using is quite bland and confided so I will use bright coloured objects such as the records to
liven up the surroundings

lighting

we dont really need lighting in terms of the installation because I have chosen to use a laptop which has no need
to add lighting but I must insure natural lighting doesnt affect the screen

sound
sound is a big part of a music video so using headsets allows the viewer to focus on the music more than a speaker
would

screens / projectors
using a laptop links to the area we have for a installation which is small
Unit 35 Installation Production Booklet

Copyright issues

What potential copyright issues could your installation infringe?

The usage of records owned by artists can cause copy right issues as I will be using them to make my installation stand out

How can you be certain that the work you are displaying does not violate any copyright
infringements?

When posted on You Tube music videos will be banned if they breach copy right issues so they will not be able to be shown In
the installation if they broke these rules , I will gain permission from the artists who mad the albums to showcase their work
alongside mine
