A pair of sliding shoes guided by a tube with stainless cover prevents traverse from
rotating, when connecting rod is out of line with centre line of the main shaft.
If the connecting rods are dismantled the blades must be locked as described in
section 1.5.1
The locking of the pitch system and/or the blades must be inspected every
week.

2. Be sure the hydraulic pressure is released and switch off the connection to the
hydraulic pump so it will not start by accident.

702020) or M20 x 140 bolts (V39/V42/V44/V47-731021) are mounted.
** To serial 0 and serial 1 turbines the hex. head bolts are M20 x 160 (152130). 3
x 2 bolts to "Locking block for blades" are M20 x 200, (see Figure 3).

Figure 3 shows the parts mounted on the blade with the blade bearing. The blade is seen from
the root end with the leading edge down and turned 5 clockwise and the crank turned 22.5
clockwise. Notice the position of the locking block (Pos. 10, Figure 3). It is placed on bolt no. 12
and 13 counted from the bolt hole in the middle of the groove in the crank plate. The counting
direction is counter clockwise, when you look towards the blade tip.
When mounting the locking block press it towards the centre of the crank plate.

3. The inner nuts must be mounted in a position, so the traverse can be moved to the
best repair position.
4. By means of the service box blades are turned, until it is possible to lock one blade
with a locking bolt in locking block (Pos. 10, Figure 3) on crank plate. The hub has
grooves for every 30 to locking bolt, to give more positions for repair. Before
locking the blade in a specific position, check carefully that the groove for this
position is not damaged in any way.
5. When the blade is locked, the nuts are turned against the washers and the traverse
so that the traverse is locked in position. Turn the outer nuts first to protect the blade
locking bolts if an EMERGENCY STOP occurs.

2. Mount a new shaft to connecting rod on the traverse. By replacement always use a
connecting rod unit Item no. 706151.
3. Tighten the nut on the shaft, torque wrench setting: See Figure 10.

Item no.: 943055.R10 Date: 2005-05-13
2. Turn the front nuts, which has been locking the traverse, forwards to secure the
traverse to go to EMERGENCY STOP.
3. Press <EMERGENCY STOP>
4. Dismount threaded rods, nuts and washers.
5. The rear connecting rod is lubricated until grease comes out at the packings. Grease
type as specified in lubrication chart.
6. Lubricate front connecting rod, if it has a grease nipple. Only use a small quantity of
grease and without high pressure in order not to damage the grease cap.
7. When the turbine is ready for operating, run a sine test (test 13) for app. 30 min. to
make a run-in of the steel/teflon bearings.

* See Item 943052 "Nose cone" where the M20 x 140 bolts are mounted.
Figure 3 shows the parts mounted on the blade with the blade bearing. The blade is seen from
the root end with the leading edge down and turned 5 clockwise and the crank turned 17.5
clockwise. Notice the place of the locking block (Pos. 10, Figure 3). It is placed on bolt no. 10 to
13 counted from the bolt hole in the middle of the groove in the crank plate to the crank. The
counting direction is counter clockwise, when you look towards the blade tip.
When mounting the locking block press it towards the center of the crank plate.

3. Press traverse holder back with 2 pcs. M12 set screws in traverse cover and pull the
bearing house back in carrying tube. Traverse holder is now placed 180 mm outside
the bearing flange (Pos. 15, Figure 14).
4. Tie end of traverse holder up to one or two of the tubes to the mounting bushings for
traverse to prevent it from dropping down with front end when bearing flange is
withdrawn.

2. Press the sliding shoes against the anti rotation tube and measure the distance
between the sliding shoes and the machined face of the traverse with a feeler gauge.
You should use shims of the same thickness as the feeler gauge minus 0.20 mm,
(0.008").
3. Press the calculated thickness of shims (Pos. 9, Figure 5) in between the sliding
shoes and the machined face of the traverse. The bend edge shall be turned away
from the sliding shoes.
4. Mount the retaining plates (remember the 11 x 17 shims, if any (Pos. 10, Figure
5)) to the sliding shoes with the fitting (Pos. 15, Figure 5) on the outer hex. head
bolts.
5. Lock the hex. head bolts with Loctite 243 and tighten them. Torque wrench setting:
See Figure 5.

3.1.4 Dismounting
1. Mount 2 blade bags (vt733921) on the 2 blades at the nose cone hatch and tighten a
guide rope to each of the bags. The length of the guide ropes have to be the tower
height + at least 40 meters.
2. Loosen the hub bolts, so that they only have a tightening moment of approx. 200 Nm
and then dismount as many, that it isn't necessary any longer that the rotor rotates
after the nose cone cover has been turned upwards.
3. Mount two guide pins vt733924 and vt733925 with approx. 5 bolt holes between the
guide pins in upper part of the flange, the point must be turned out.
4. Mount the lifting equipment of the blade hub (vt733922), as shown in the wind
turbine erection manual (942256).
