CONTRIBUTIONS: Seven different players scored in double-figures as six different players grabbed at least six rebounds on 11/8 at PHO, marking
the first time in team history that has occurred during a single game. Goran Dragić (29 pts, 9 rebs), Hassan Whiteside (23 pts, 10 rebs), James
Johnson (15 pts, 7 rebs), Justise Winslow (14 pts, 6 rebs), Kelly Olynyk (10 pts, 9 rebs), Dion Waiters (16 pts), Wayne Ellington (15 pts) and Josh
Richardson (6 rebs) all contributed to becoming the first group to achieve the feat.

ROOKIE IMPACT: Bam Adebayo posted a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double on 10/30 vs. MIN, in just his fourth NBA game. That marks as the
fifth-fastest a HEAT rookie has posted a double-double in team history. Additionally, he grabbed 10 offensive rebounds in the contest, the most
offensive boards by a rookie in franchise history during a single-game and the tied for the sixth most by a rookie in the NBA over the last 17 years.

2017-18 COMMUNITY NOTES
HEAT SEASON OF GIVING: On December 21, HEAT players Rodney McGruder (kicked off his Sports Business Initiative with
students at Georgia Jones-Ayers Middle School), Kelly Olynyk (visited with Riverside Elementary students), Josh Richardson
(treated youth from T.A.P.S. to a Dick’s Sporting Goods shopping spree) and Hassan Whiteside (hosted a Toy Drive at Ninja
Lounge) as well as Alonzo Mourning (Verizon Wireless Special Delivery at a season ticket member home) all participated in
community outreach activities. On December 22, both Richardson (T.A.P.S. families) and McGruder (families from Baptist Cancer
Institute) hosted special guests with tickets and a VIP experience at the game vs. Dallas. On December 23, Udonis Haslem
rewarded students for academic excellence at Toys R Us and McGruder hosted families from the Baptist Cancer Institute with
tickets and a VIP experience for the game vs. New Orleans. On December 24, Wayne Ellington made an appearance at the
Ronald McDonald House and on December 26, McGruder once again hosted families from the Cancer Institute with tickets and a
VIP experience for the game vs. Orlando.

PLAYER TICKET PROGRAM: One of the most generous and trend-setting programs in the NBA, the Miami HEAT’s Community Player Ticket
Outreach Program will spend the entire 2017-18 regular season reaching out to children and youth less fortunate who typically would only dream of
watching a HEAT game live. HEAT players Goran Dragić, Wayne Ellington, Udonis Haslem, James Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Rodney McGruder,
Kelly Olynyk, Josh Richardson, Dion Waiters, Hassan Whiteside and Justise Winslow along with Head Coach Erik Spoelstra and Vice President of
Player Programs, Alonzo Mourning, will join forces to donate tickets for every single home game to local charitable organizations that would
otherwise not have the means to attend HEAT games. Each player, based upon availability, graciously provides several private “Meet & Greet”
opportunities for the groups prior to each HEAT home game, where the players give inspiring talks to the children, sign autographs and take pictures
with the group. The participating organizations also attend a private viewing of the team warm-ups. Over the course of the season, the children,
many for the first time, will have the opportunity to enjoy a HEAT game, courtesy of their favorite HEAT players and role models.

2017-18 HEAD COACH
ERIK SPOELSTRA (Portland)
Regular Season Coaching Record: 459-299, currently in 10th Season
Erik Spoelstra enters his 10th season as head coach of the HEAT and his 23rd as a member of the organization. He
was elevated to his current position on April 28, 2008. Spoelstra has rewarded the faith that HEAT President Pat
Riley showed in him by garnering seven postseason appearances, five division titles, four conference
championships and guiding the franchise to back-to-back NBA titles in 2012 and 2013. Under his leadership, Miami
entered this season with the third-highest regular season winning percentage (.609) in the NBA over that span.
In his previous nine seasons at the helm, Spoelstra has already made his mark on the HEAT record book. He currently holds the postseason
franchise records in victories (70), winning percentage (.619), series won (15) and postseason games coached (113) on Miami’s all-time list. In
regular season play, he entered this season ranked first in winning percentage (.609) on Miami’s all-time list and second in games coached (722)
and this season he passed Pat Riley (454) for the most wins in HEAT franchise history.
Since replacing Riley on the HEAT bench, he has remained a steadying influence for his team and its paid huge dividends in return. Despite starting
last season with multiple injuries leading to a 11-30 record, Spoelstra kept the team together as he led them to a 30-11 second half record, finishing
the season 41-41 (.500) to become the first team in NBA history to have been at least 19 games under .500 and reach the .500 mark at any point
that same season. Miami rallied to finish tied for the eighth and final playoff spot, but lost out on postseason play due to a tiebreaker. Additionally,
Spoelstra was named the 2016-17 Co-Coach of the Year by the National Basketball Coaches Association and was selected as the Eastern
Conference Coach of the Month for February, marking the seventh time he has earned the monthly honor, the most in team history.
When Spoelstra first took over the head coaching duties in 2008 he was given the task of improving a young team that had been ravaged by injuries
the previous season and had won just 15 games. Two years later, after the summer of 2010 in which Miami re-signed Dwyane Wade and acquired
All-Stars LeBron James and Chris Bosh, he found himself coaching a highly-talented, veteran group that was the most scrutinized team in the NBA.
Spoelstra and his team have proven they were up for the challenge as he guided them to consecutive NBA Championships, four-straight Conference
Championships and four consecutive NBA Finals appearances, becoming just the third franchise in NBA history to make four consecutive NBA
Finals appearances, joining the Celtics and Lakers. It also made them just one of 10 franchises in the four major North American sports leagues to
make four consecutive trips to the league championship. Individually, Spoelstra became just the fourth head coach in NBA history to lead his team to
four-straight Finals appearances joining Red Auerbach, K.C. Jones and Pat Riley.
Spoelstra joined a very elite fraternity when he led the HEAT to a seven-game series win over the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals. Upon
capturing the 2013 NBA Championship he became one of just 13 head coaches in NBA history to have won multiple championships and only the
eighth to win a championship in consecutive seasons.
The 2012 championship culminated a compressed 2011-12 season in which Miami went 46-20 and captured its second consecutive Southeast
Division title. The regular season was highlighted by a nine-game win streak (Feb. 10-Mar. 1) with each victory a double-digit win. During that streak
the HEAT became the first team to win road games on three consecutive nights (Feb. 12-14) since December of 1979 and the first to win each of
those contests by double-digits since the 1970-71 season.
Before taking over as the sixth head coach in HEAT history, Spoelstra had served Miami in a number of roles in his first 13 years. He was originally
hired as video coordinator and over the years was promoted to assistant coach/video coordinator, assistant coach/advance scout and assistant
coach/director of scouting, a title he held during Miami’s 2006 NBA Championship, before ascending to head coach. He made a name for himself
around the league with his game preparation and superb attention to detail. In his seven seasons as the HEAT’s assistant coach/director of scouting,
he had the primary role of developing game plans for upcoming opponents. To that end, he coordinated the video staff and advance scouts while
overseeing the development of scouting reports and videos.
In 1992, he graduated from the University of Portland with a degree in communications. While attending Portland, Spoelstra was the starting point
guard for four years and was named the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year in 1989. Upon graduating he spent two years as a
player/coach for Tus Herten, a team in the professional sports league of Germany.
He has returned to his native Philippines in four of the last five offseasons to host clinics and promote education, health and wellness to thousands of
at-risk youth through grassroots programs and events. The 9-day program in Manila in the summer of 2011 was the largest NBA FIT event ever
hosted in Southeast Asia under the NBA Cares umbrella. In the summer of 2012, Coach Spoelstra expanded his reach into other Southeast Asia
nations by conducting coaches clinics and other FIT activities in Singapore.
Raised in Portland, OR, Spoelstra, who was inducted into the Jesuit High School Athletic Hall of Fame in September 2009, is the first Asian/Filipino-
American head coach in any of the major North American sports leagues.
Spoelstra is the son of Jon Spoelstra, a long-time NBA executive who has guided the Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets, Buffalo Braves and
New Jersey Nets. His grandfather, Watson, was a Detroit Tigers beat writer for many years. He and his wife, Nikki, reside in Coconut Grove.
