HUV Inks and coatings:

• Use only the wave lengths above 280nm (UV-B)
• Iron-orientated UV lamps vs. Mercury UV lamps
• Ozone generation is almost completely eliminated
• No interdeck driers necessary for the HUV inks
= less energy consumption
• Still few raw materials available in Europe
• At the moment the price difference compared to standard UV
coatings is huge

LED Inks und Coatings:

•Specific wave-length peaks 365 / 375 / 385 / 395 nm
(monochrome light), a specially designed photo-initiator is necessary
• Lamp distance and the narrow spectrum still limit its use
• Ozone generation is almost completely eliminated
• Lifespan of the UV-LED lamps is markedly higher
• No significant heating of the substrate takes place
