    What We Did, What’s Coming Up:
    Language Arts:
    In writer’s workshop, we have been finishing up our non-fiction books about food. We will share them
    and soon they will come home for you to read! We have revamped our literacy rotations to include
    other activities of our choice, so we have been practicing how each station should look and sound.
    Some new activities that are our favorites are stamping words, creating words with magnet letters,
    writing lists, and writing letters.

    PALS assessments will be ongoing over the next couple of weeks.

    **Please be on the lookout for the little readers that have been sent home over the past couple of
    months. There are several books missing which then makes sets incomplete.

    Math:
    We have been working hard on fluency to five equations. We played the games Race to the Sun and Fill the Treasure Chest with
    equations to 5. Our goal is to be able to recognize equations at least to 5 with automaticity. Next week we will be introduced to the four
    coins: penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. We will describe their color and size. We will learn their worth and trade pennies for a nickel, dime,
    or quarter. We will also continue to work on combinations from 5 to 10.

    SNAP assessments will be ongoing over the next couple of weeks.


    Science:
    During our content block, we have been exploring the weather. We researched a weather topic that interested us and created a mural
    of it. We tracked the weather over the month of April as well. We learned to read degrees (Fahrenheit). Next week, we will begin our map
    unit! We will talk about the importance of maps, the components on a map, and how to read a map using bird’s eye view.
