There is – There are
Objetivo: utilizar las estructuras there is – there are, para preguntar y responder
sobre cantidades.
Formas “There is – There are”
•En inglés, “hay” se dice con dos palabras= “there + verbo TO BE” conjugado.
“There is” se emplea cuando hablamos de
nombres en singular y there are cuando
HAY
hablamos de nombres en plural.
Ejemplo:
•Hay un niño.
there is there are There is a boy.
•Hay un balón.
There is a ball.
•Hay tres mujeres.
singular plural There are three women.
•Hay dos bolsos.
There are two bags.
Ejemplos
There are 12 healing herbs in my garden.
4. ___________colors in the basket 5. ___________a dog next to the girl 6. ___________animals in the jungle.
and ___________a ruler too. and _______ sushi on the plate. _________a lion and _________a gorilla.

Pasado y futuro
•Estas expresiones también se pueden utilizar en pasado y futuro, lo cual es muy sencillo
porque sólo cambiamos la conjugación al verbo To Be.
En el pasado:
HABÍA there was = para singular
(hubo) There were = para el plural
Ejemplo:
THERE THERE Había un niño en el parque
WAS WERE There was a boy in the park.
(Usamos there was porque es singular)
Ejemplo:
singular plural Había tres mujeres hermosas
There were three beautiful women.
(Usamos there were porque es plural)
Ejemplos - There was – there were - Pasado
HABRÁ Ejemplo:
•No hay un pastel, hay tres. There is not a cake, there are three.
•No hay dos pasteles. There are not two cakes.
•No había una mesera, había cinco. There was not a waitress, there were five.
•No había dos meseras. There were not two waitresses.
•En futuro, la forma negativa se realiza agregando la palabra NOT después del auxiliar
«Will»
•No habrá un florero, habrá seis. There will not be a flower vase, there will be six.
•No habrá tres floreros. There will not be three flower vases.
