 What is Electroporation?
●Electroporation: Needle-free, Pain-free Anti-Aging Treatment

The origin of the basic methodology of electroporation

was the electrophysiological technique, first developed
in the late 1970s. This technique treated nerve and
cardiac muscle cells.
The first electroporation was a medical device
designed to deliver medicine painlessly into the body.
Peter Agre, an American physician, professor, and
molecular biologist, was awarded the 2003 Nobel Prize
in chemistry for his discovery of aquaporin.

 Electroporation is in beauty treatment to perform mesotherapy without
needles. note: Mesotherapy treatment is a non-surgical cosmetic solution
by which effective ingredients and/or medicines are injected into the skin for
facial or slimming treatment.

 Electroporation is a mechanical transfection method that uses an electrical

pulse instead of a needle. Electroporation produces temporary pores in cell
membranes through which ingredients or essences can pass into cells in
order to perform treatment such as a facial, slimming, or breasts
enhancement.

 Unlike iontophoresis and supersonic wave methods, electroporation delivers

even high-molecular ingredients into skin.

 What is Electroporation?
【Theory】The theory of the electroporation delivery system.
 Directly acts on the skin, instantly enhances skin tissue penetration. Under the function of
electroshock, holes will be formed in the lipid mobilization of cells; at the same time,
hydrophile molecules, which have not been absorbed originally, can penetrate into cells
inner. (The 2003 Novel Prize in Chemistry for discovery of aquaporin)

 The cell is in an opened condition for a few seconds to minutes, and the hole will close
naturally. The duration of the cell’s opened state depends on the pulse length.

 Theory of the Iontophoresis
◆With the iontophoresis
Iontophoresis is based on the general principle that like
charges repel each other and unlike charges attract
each other. This external energy source can be used to
increase the rate or penetration of beauty ingredients
through the membrane.
◆Disadvantages of Iontophoresis
 The substance to be driven into the tissues needs to be
ionic in nature.

 Minor reactions such as itching, erythema and general

irritations are common. Electrolysis of moisture inside and
outside of the skin occurs when iontophoresis treatment
is performed.
For instance, using a negative electric current decomposes the water in the skin and then,
the skin becomes strongly alkalinity and could suffer itching or irritations.
Pain and irritation of the skin may occur through the pH change.

 Iontophoresis cannot deliver high-molecular beauty ingredients (collagen hyaluronic acid,
