SECTION 16730

CLOCK SYSTEM

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 DESCRIPTION:

A. The Work under this Section consists of furnishing and installation of IP based
clock system as indicated on drawings and as specified herein.

B. Each building shall have an IP based master clock controller to be connected the
TCP/IP LAN of the campus. All the slave/secondary clocks within building shall be
controlled by the master clock controller of the particular building as shown on the
drawings.

1.2 SUBMITTALS:

A. The Contractor shall submit list of materials and equipment to be incorporated in


the work including complete manufacturer's diagram and circuit routing of the
system. List of materials and equipment shall be supported by sufficient
descriptive materials, such as catalog cuts, diagrams and other data published by
the manufacturer to demonstrate conformance with the specification
requirements. Catalog numbers alone shall not be accepted.

B. Complete Installation and Operation Manual.

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE:

A. The following association and organization shall be referred to with respect to


standards as they apply to the materials and equipment provided under this
Section.

Electronics Industries Association (EIA): Publications and JEDEC Standards and


Engineering Publications.

Underwriter's Laboratories (UL).

B. For conduits, fittings, wiring and other devices, see Section 16050 - BASIC
MATERIALS AND METHODS.

C. Single Source Responsibility: All components and accessories shall be product of


single manufacturer.

1.4 WARRANTY:

A. Submit manufacturers written warranty for period of 1 year from substantial


completion for the repair or replacement of defective materials and workmanship.

PARTS 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 GENERAL:

A. Master clock system shall be complete as shown on drawings which will provide
programmable time. The system shall consist of master clock software installed at
main server, secondary clocks and all necessary wiring and accessories to
provide a complete and workable system. Main server will be provided by Owner.

B. Equipment and components shall conform to applicable requirements to Article


810 to NFPA 70 and shall be UL listed. All electronic components shall comply
with the appropriate standards of Electronics Industries Association (EIA).

2.2 MASTER CLOCK SOFTWARE:

A. IP based master clock software shall control and maintain the correct time of
secondary clocks, complete with 128 time events flexible program capability for
six function, built-in self diagnostic program with 0.001% accuracy, electronic
lockout code, tone alert, time mode for conventional or military time format and
other accessories required. Master clock shall be NTP time server V4
compatible.

B. Master clock software shall provide the following modes of operation:

1. Load: Entry of time event to system's memory.

2. Edit: Scanning of all time events and change of events.

3. Test: Manual scanning of time events and testing output signal.

4. Run: Automatic control of all secondary clocks and zone devices.

2.3 SECONDARY CLOCKS:

A. Secondary clocks shall be with 12 inches round case, 1-12 Hour white dial,
designer hands (minute and hour), high-impact shatterproof acrylic lens and
molded high-impact ABS case, conforming to UL 863 or equivalent standards.
Clocks shall be wall and/or ceiling mounted type and double and/or single face as
shown on the drawings with complete manufacturer's standard mounting bracket.
Secondary clocks shall be controlled by the master clock controller of the
particular building. Clocks shall be self setting using MOBALine or similar
protocol.

2.4 WIRING:

A. Refer to Section 16715 – VOICE AND DATA COMMUNICATION CABLING.

2.5 RACEWAYS:

A. Refer to Section 16050 - BASIC MATERIALS AND METHOD.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION:

A. The entire system shall be installed by specialist subcontractor approved by the


Engineer.

B. Wiring shall be executed in accordance with the applicable portions of Section


16050 - BASIC MATERIALS AND METHODS. The entire system shall be
installed in accordance with the manufacturer's written instructions and shop
drawings.

3.2 TESTING:

A. Tests shall be conducted as recommended by the manufacturer, and test results


and certificates shall be submitted to the Engineer.
