Predictive Analytics (MBA 6520) Professor Mehrotra, Fall 2019

Presentation  1  –  Select  Collections

 “Select  Collections”  Case  Study  Project
BACKGROUND
The basic background for this case presented quite clearly in the case document. In addition,
keep in mind your team stands to receive a big bonus if your model performs well.

ORAL PRESENTATION
Your key findings and recommendations are to be organized and communicated in a 5-10 minute
in-class oral presentation (Monday, March 4 for Section 1, Wednesday, February 27 for Section 2).

You are free to organize your presentation in whatever way you think will be most effective in
communicating to the board. Note that your presentation should include:

•   An Executive Summary
•   A description of the business situation and problem
•   A clear description of your predictive model along with an intuitive interpretation of how
it works. Be sure to carefully explain anything in your model that might be viewed as
surprising or counterintuitive.
•   A couple of example cases to help your audience understand how the model works in a
more concrete way.
•   Your predicted collected revenue for the totalpay variable in the test set.
•   Any relevant graphs that might help provide some insights.
•   A brief overview of your modeling process
•   Key issues, risks, and success factors if the company decides to implement this model
•   A Conclusion/Summary slide

In preparing your presentation, please keep in mind that your client does not know a great deal
about statistics but does understand his business and data quite well

You are required to bring a hardcopy of your presentation for me.

OTHER PROJECT DELIVERABLES

•   Prior to the presentation, your team must upload a copy of your presentation slides (including any
additional slides that you would like to include as Appendices) to Canvas.
•   You are also required to upload an Excel file that contains the “acctid” field along with your predicted
values for the “totalpay” field for each of the records in the Test dataset.

Please feel free to contact me any time with any questions about any aspect of this project.
