Character:
Don Rafael Ibarra
Don Rafael Ibarra, who has died before the novel’s opening pages.
Crisostomo Ibarra’s father, represents a rich landlord with a social
conscience because he is a philanthropist. His strict standard of conduct
regulates his actions. His confidence in the law and hatred of things that
are not legal is admirable. His sense of justice wrought his undoing when he
came to the aid of a young boy harmed by an ignorant tax-collector. His
hidden enemies invented false charges against him when he was jailed. His
independent views find opposition in Father Damaso who calls him a heretic
and filibuster.
Representation:
The comparisons of these two victims were they have unnecessary and
injustice deaths as well as framed and accused. Don Rafael Ibarra, an
innocent person died inside a prison due to a mistake, accused by these
brutal friars (Father Damaso) of heresy and subversion. Kian Delos Santos
along with the Tokhang Victims has still no further investigation, killed and
