Weaknesses (Political Metaphor)
- Aging Facilities
Since U of M is a really old university and it has a lot of facilities, those are expensive and
requires a lot of funds to maintain and restore them, and this is one of the reasons why some of
facilities may not be in the best conditions.
- Adjusting to pressures of growth
As I mentioned before U of M is considered to be the best university in Winnipeg and it has a lot
of requirements for admission. This make it harder the process of accepting new students and
sometimes it may be not totally fair. And with all the requirements it is hard to adjust to the
growth.
- High Costs for International Students
Even though U of M is the very popular the high costs for international students make it harder
to approach a lot of internationals considering that the tuitions fees are the highest among the
other post secondaries school.
Threats
- Competition
Since they are a lot of post secondaries school in Winnipeg, the competition is hard and
sometimes it need a lot of effort to new ideas to keep attracting the best students.
- Poor academic preparation
This is related to the risk of not meeting the desired outcomes from the faculty staff and not
preparing in the best way students
- Federal Funding Reductions
Since U of M is supported by the Federal State a reduction of funds would cause a lot of
uncertainty and chaos inside the organization.
- Uncertain Economy
If the economy will change this would affect the entire organization because it needs to reanalyse
the tuition fees and at the same time to maintain its quality
