Amanda Jonker

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Dear Lisa Aitken,

I  have  worked  with  Louis  Riel  School  division for two years as at 0.50 permanent and would
now like to find an exciting new full time opportunity within the division.

I  have  spent  the  last  two  years  at  Minnetonka  School  passionately  working  in  my  morning
Kindergarten  class  and  in  the  school.  In  addition  to  my  teaching  roles  I’ve  lead  a  drama  section
with  our  Middle  Years  Exploration  course,  lunch  time  clubs,  the  student  yearbook  committee  and
more.  I  love  working  with  students  to  make  an  impact  on  their  community.  I  enjoy  joining  school
committees  and  creating  educational  and  engaging  events  for  students. Last year I assisted with I
Love  To  Read  Month,  the  Winter  Concert,  our  Middle  Years  Exploration  showcase,  Arts  in  Action,
MRYCA  and  more.  Currently  my  Kindergarten  class  has  teamed  up  with  our  Grade  ¾  Learning
Buddies to fundraise and install and Little Lending Library by June.

My  goals  for  this  year  are  to  work  on  gender  inclusive  language,  infuse  project  based
learning,  and  get  my  students  outside  even  more!  I  participate  in  the  spring  and  fall  Outdoor
Classroom  Day  events  and  do  the  Two  Week  Outdoor  Challenge  where  we  spent  two  weeks
learning  outside all morning, every morning, no matter what the weather! I have also begun my post
baccalaureate  degree  through  distance  education  at  the  University  of  British Columbia in Teacher
Librarianship.

I  feel  that  I  have  created  a  strong  knowledge  base  about  early  years  education  and  would
love to continue to learn and grow in this stream through this position and experience.

Thank  you  for  considering  my  application.  I  look  forward  to  hearing  from  you.  Please  feel
free to contact my references.

Sincerely,

Amanda Jonker
