2. Introduction
• User mode: -
Router is the user mode, i.e. default prompt. It means that whenever o
router boots successfully it lands into the user mode. Router cannot be
configured from this mode, but it is used for just monitoring purposes.
We cannot see save and change the configuration of the router. We can
run some commands such as ping, telnet etc.
• Privilege mode: -
It is the administrative mode, we can check whether the settings and
configuration made have been implemented or not. If it is new router
all the interfaces are by default shutdown. It is used to see and save
configuration.
• Global Configuration mode: -
As the name indicates, it is a global configuration mode i.e. we can
configure any interface by this mode, by just entering the interface
mode. We can change any configuration of the router such as ip-address
or password etc.
3. Lab exercises
• Set hostname
• Set password
• Set banner
• Configure multiple interfaces in a router
4. Procedure
• Set hostname: -

options are not used to connect both routers. When you select

another router. The same method on another router. Now is the time
come assign real ip-address on both routers.

Now both router state changed to up. When the 2nd router state
change to up the previous 1st router states also changed to up
automatically. If the 2nd router state is not change to up then the
previous 1st router is not changed to up.
c. Connecting with switch

5. Results
Ping from one router to another router

c. Successful ping
6. Conclusions
The overall of these experiments we learn about different routers. We use
basic commands to configure router such as setting hostname, set password
and banners etc. We also configure multiple interfaces on the router to
connect another router. This is our total lab experiment.
