JV L. Custodio: Crossing The Line

This poem expresses the inner turmoil of a person in love with a friend who does not reciprocate their romantic feelings. In three sentences, the poem summarizes falling in love with a friend, worrying that expressing one's true feelings may damage the friendship, and ultimately accepting that keeping their feelings private is necessary to maintain the important friendship they already have.

Crossing the line

JV L. Custodio

Starring at the night sky

Hoping everythin' will be alright
Thinking maybe we may find a way
To go back to our usual days

Can you still remember

The days before we're older
Cherishing all the laughter
Without shedding even a single tear

Can we go back to being friends again

When everything does not really matter
We're just happy when we're together

I'll try not love you even more and more

I'll promise I'll control myself not to bother you anymore

I can't blame myself for loving you for

Your so perfect, nothing i could ask for more
Forgive me If I crossed the line
Which sets us the distance an breaks us apart

If you ever found someone you'll love

I'll be more than happy that you'll have
Finally, found the one who can give you all the things I can't
Wishing it is me, still hoping we can be,

How can I endure that i'm just a friend

Knowing I can give everything I own
Forgetting even myself for you alone

But I'll rather to save everything we have,

Because I know this is where we can last
And this is when I set in the past

Everything that i felt for you.
