LESSON EXEMPLAR IN ENGLISH VI

QUARTER 3, WEEK 9, DAY 3

JANUARY 3, 2018

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of various non-verbal

elements in orally communicating information.

Performance Standard: The learner orally communicates information, opinions and

ideas effectively to different audiences for a variety of purposes.

I. Learning Competencies/Objectives:
1. Present a coherent, comprehensive report on differing viewpoints on an
issue. (EN6OL-IIIi-1.19)
2. Show tactfulness when communicating with others. (EN6A-IIIi-17)
3. Write a report legibly.

II. Content: Reporting Viewpoints on an Issue (Global Warming)

III. Learning Resources:

on Global Warming/Climate Change

Materials: picture, short film

IV. Procedure

A. Before The Lesson

1. Drill: Read the tongue twister correctly.
How can a clam cram in a clean cream can? (3x)

2. Review: Show the picture of how warm the globe is.

Ask pupils to interpret the picture base on how they understand
it.

Say: This map is taken from google. It clearly shows how

warm our mother Earth is. The orange color represents the
heat we absorb.

3. Motivation: How is our weather today? Do you like it? Why?

(Answers may vary depending on the weather)

B. During The Lesson

1. Presentation: Let’s watch a short film on Global Warming
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqxMzKLYrZ4
a. What ca you say about the film?
b. Can we do something about it?
c. Who are the great contributors of these phenomena?

2. Discussion:
Read the passage and analyze it.
“Scorching summers…Melting glaciers…Stronger storms... The signs
of global climate change are all around us.”

Source: NASA/courtesy of nasaimages.org.

The Earth's climate is getting warmer, and the signs are everywhere. Rain patterns are
changing, sea level is rising, and snow and ice are melting sooner in the spring. As
global temperatures continue to rise, we'll see more changes in our climate and our
environment. These changes will affect people, animals, and ecosystems in many ways.

Less rain can mean less water for some places, while too much rain can cause terrible
flooding. More hot days can dry up crops and make people and animals sick. In some
places, people will struggle to cope with a changing environment. In other places,
people may be able to successfully prepare for these changes. The negative impacts of
global climate change will be less severe overall if people reduce the amount of
greenhouse gases we're putting into the atmosphere and worse if we continue
producing these gases at current or faster rates.

3. Guided Practice:
Work by pair.
Give your own viewpoint about the issue/selection you read. Have your
written report ready.
(Ask some pupils to report their output while some jot down the
important points.)

4. Individual Practice:
a. What have you learned from the selection you have read?
b. Who are the most affected with these changes?
c. As students, how can we contribute in lessening the effect of these
changes?

C. After The Lesson

1. Generalization:
How will you give a viewpoint on a certain issue?
a. State first.
b. Discuss first.
c. Reasons why you agree or disagree with viewpoint.
d. Example to support your point of view.

2. Evaluation:
(This may be done orally.)
Give your own point of view.
To what extent do you agree or disagree on the issue of Global
Warming or Climate Change?
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages based on your own
opinion.

V. Assignment:
Draw a globe showing the effects of global warming or climate change.
