    1. Diabetes is a major risk factor for atherosclerosis and peripheral artery disease which can lead to diabetic foot ulcers and infections if not properly managed. 2. Factors like neuropathy, peripheral artery disease, and foot deformities increase the risk of foot ulcers and infections in diabetics which can become chronic and require multidisciplinary treatment approaches to heal. 3. Diabetic foot ulcers and infections are a major health problem worldwide according to multiple epidemiological studies and better prevention, screening and treatment strategies are still needed to address this issue.
