PROJECT PROPOSAL ON DRINKING FOUNTAIN
INTRODUCTION
Water is a necessity to human life. It is a vital part of life that quenches thirst and
is needed to perform bodily movements. Basically our body weight is approximately 60
percent water. Our body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its
temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because your body loses water through
breathing, sweating, and digestion, it's important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating
foods that contain water. The amount of water you need depends on a variety of factors,
including the climate you live in, how physically active you are, and whether you're
experiencing an illness or have any other health problems. This is why we wanted to
implement drinking water fountains around the vicinity of this institution.
Encouraging a healthy lifestyle is one of the key topics in schools at the moment,
with childhood obesity on the rise, it’s never been more important to teach children about
health and eating well. Teaching kids about the health benefits of water can be easily
done especially with the dominance of school drinking fountains around the classrooms
and halls. Having water fountains and encouraging children to drink from them instead of
having sugary drinks will help decrease obesity levels and increase awareness of healthy
living. It’s also vital to teach children about dehydration and the effects it can have such
as headaches, drowsiness and even loss of consciousness. Teaching them to drink out
of the school drinking fountains regularly and often will help keep them hydrated, hydrated
and happy. It’s also vital to ensure all the water fountains at the school are maintained to
avoid bacteria contamination. The fountains will need to be sanitized regularly to keep
them clean. This being said, having access to potable water is essential and is as
important as water itself. With roughly about 8,300 students in Kidapawan City National
High School spends quite a lot of money in spending water in water dispensers or water
bottles. Our project would help students conveniently drink water without having to spend
a single dime nor use a single plastic bottle.
PURPOSE
Kidapawan City National High School is the biggest school in Kidapawan City
which consist of more than 8300 students for this school year 2019-2020. Since City High
is already overpopulated, the principal, Dr. Rosalinda Lonzaga, Ph.D., is always trying to
discipline her students in terms of the garbage especially plastic cellophanes during
recess time and lunch break and implemented the zero waste management.
Another thing, KCNHS is a public school wherein the school is a zero collection
policy however, students and teachers are willing to spend money for buying or renting
dispenser for the whole school year just to have a clean and safe water maintenance
every day. The students are spending 5 pesos for the water every week but there are
sections or classrooms who doesn't have any dispenser at all and they tend to buy mineral
water worth 15 pesos which is more expensive and the fact that they're still using plastics
and sometimes they wouldn't drink water just for the sake of not spending too much or
maybe they don't have any enough money to buy some.
Having a water fountain drinking water in the said institution, it could be a great
project for the entire school and not just for this school year but this can surely last for a
long period of time.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Students and even teachers in Kidapawan City National High School keeps
themselves hydrated all the time. The collection of payment for water consumption of the
occupants of the room is a must despite of the zero collection policy of the school. This
implementation of drinking in water fountains of the said institution is a need for the
population of the school is getting higher and some students go to school without even a
penny in their pockets. This will ensure that students even those who can’t afford to buy
mineral bottled water can stay hydrated as long as they want.
Also drinking in water fountains will help student-athletes to quench their thirst
every after trainings whenever they run out of water in their water jugs and when stores
are already closed. Drinking 8 or more glasses of water is needed for the body to work.
When students aren’t hydrated enough, they have the tendency to experience headache
and any other health conditions.
OBJECTIVES
A. To provide convenient and accessible water for the students of Kidapawan City
National High School.
Human bodies need water to survive. Therefore, water is very essential in living. It
plays an important role in helping us to perform bodily movements. It's not only convenient
and accessible but it is also free. Our projects aims to provide water that is accessible to
every student and teacher in the institution.
Safety comes first. Providing water for the students isn't enough to solve the
problem of water. Safety precaution should always be a top priority. The cleanliness of
water is just as important as providing accessible and convenient water. Cleanliness of
water is crucial in the consumption of water. Our project aims to not only provide water
but also make sure it's safe and contaminant-free.
Conducting information drive and talking about how to properly take care of the
said facilities is very important. Conducting these information drives would increase the
awareness of students towards the proper usage of the drinking fountain. Thus,
lengthening the working years of the fountain. This would result to less maintenance and
discipline among students and staffs.
Properly distinguishing the right location for each fountain would lessen the cases
of stampede and crowding. Right locations would result to effective use of drinking
fountains. It would be very beneficial since students wouldn't be stock in one drinking
fountain since the location of the fountains were carefully planned.
