‘Growing Personal Excellence’
Welcome back to term three. We appreciate how busy our farming families are from now on, and hope the
spring treats you kindly!
We are thrilled to welcome Amara and Vienna to Whenuakura School. Both of these girls are in the Teina Nest,
Amara as a year 2 and Vienna a new entrant. We really hope you enjoy your learning journey with us.
Basketball
We won't be entering a basketball team as we only had a very small response - maybe next year?
Touch
Many thanks to everyone who has returned the touch form - (green slip that came home on Monday!). If you
would like your child to play in Hawera on a Thursday afternoon please let us know by tomorrow.
Pyjama Day
At the suggestion
of one of our
juniors, we held a
Pyjama Day last
term. It was such
fun to come all
warm and snuggly
in our PJs!
Patea Area School Variety Show by Maddie Erni
Our Tuakana Hive went to Patea Area School for their Variety Show. When we arrived Tuakana Hive
lined up at the entrance and our teacher gave us instructions about respect and excellence. Once we
entered, we took our places in the second row. On the big screen there was research about famous
people the Patea Area School students had been learning about. When the show finally started we
were all very excited. There was the haka, to models modelling wedding dresses, to princesses and
dragons becoming friends and three girls singing and dancing to girl power. There were also amazing
hip hop dancers. When the show ended, we returned to school and everybody was telling each other
about the amazing performance.
Ice Skating
At the end of last term we had a fun excursion to the pop up ice skating
rink in Hawera. It provided a great challenge for some of our learners
(and adults!!), but they were great support to each other.
Kai Kitchen
We are very lucky to have lunches supplied for some families from the Kai Kitchen. This organisation is run purely
on donations. If anyone would like to donate some food towards these lunches it would be really helpful. This
could be anything - bread, fillings, fruit, snacks, muesli bars, biscuits, home baking. Please drop off any donations
to Joy Macbeth at 26 Egmont Street. Many thanks.
There are also several ways you can contact them for assistance. You can call or text The Kai Kitchen on (021) 465
688, e-mail them at info@thekaikitchen.co.nz, contact us through our Facebook Page.
Pet Day
Our annual Pet Day is on Tuesday 17th September. It was decided at the last Board meeting that there will be no
calves again this year. So start training up your lambs, and other pets. The Board also would like to remind you -
students can bring a lamb Or a pet - not both. Lots more information will be coming our regarding Pet Day in a
few weeks.
