Term 4 Week 3

Taranaki Tennis Primary School Championships 2019

Congratulations Lorcan Honeyfield and Jack Hurley for representing Whenuakura School
Hi everyone,

Term four is always a busy time with assessments being completed, production, three touch teams, and the
many other school and cluster events we have. We are proud of our learners who consistently show our school
CORE values and aim for excellence in all that they do. You can also stay updated with our school calendar by
downloading the ‘SKOOL LOOP’ app on your devices.

Halloween
We had a spooktacular day dressing up for Halloween. Check out more photos on our school Facebook page.

Cycle Safety/Wheels day

Bike safety was a very valuable learning experience to add to our school curriculum. Our learners enjoyed
navigating through a complicated course where they had to adhere to road signs and ensure they were signalling
correctly.
Wild, Wild, West School Disco
Thank you to all of the children who came to our school disco. There were games, dancing, and awesome
costumes! We are so proud of our impact team who showed excellent leadership and organisation.
The Impact Team would like to thank everyone who helped with decorations, food, and music and Andrew and
Alison Hurley for the Hay Bales.
The total raised was $293.80 and all funds go towards senior camp.
School Pool
Thank you to Geoffrey Miller for getting our school pool up and running. We would like to also thank Lani Phillips
who will be looking after it for the 2019/2020 summer.
Maize Maze - Fright Nights
SAVE THE DATES (tentative) All School Families
28th/29th March 2020
6th/7th/8th March 2020
The Maize Maze Fright Nights are our biggest school fundraiser. In the past these funds have allowed us to have
a third classroom and much more. It always draws in a very large crowd over the two weekends and requires lots
of dedicated helpers. These dates will be confirmed closer to the time but please mark them in your calendars
now. If you have any questions about how the fundraiser works, please let us know.

Communication
Our communication strategies help us inform and engage parents on matters related to the school. Current,
clear, and consistent information helps staff, students, and parents feel connected and confident that they know
how the school operates, and what is going on in the school.
Absences - Call the school office on 06 2738029 or message the school Facebook Page.
If you would like to discuss anything please make an appointment time to see the classroom teacher. This can be
done by calling the office or messaging the school Facebook page.
We are available to answer calls to the office between 8.30am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday, and Facebook
messages from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. If you contact us outside of these times, please do not
expect a response until the next working day.

School Donations
We would thank all families who have generously made payment of the school donation for this year.
From 2020 our school has opted into the donations scheme and you will no longer be asked for donations. This
means that the Government will pay our school $150 per student per year. If you would like more information
on this, you can visit https://www.education.govt.nz/school/funding-and-financials/fees-charges-and-donations/
