Compare Shannon-Weaver Model and the Transaction Model of Communication by
answering the question:
The Shannon-Weaver Model and the Transaction Model of Communication have a same purpose
and that is there similarity, is that they both have the ability to transmits the message or information
to the receiver.
Shannon-Weaver Model doesn’t capture the “Face to Face Dynamic” because the model reflects
the time in the place where it was created, on 1940’s both Shannon and Weaver came up with this
model and working in the telephone industry, so it has this technology angle where it helps explain
texting well and some kind of information on technology but is doesn’t capture the “Face to Face
Dynamic” also in here it’s missing the Non-Verbal Communication. So, after some years, Barnlund
and Watzlawick made the transactional model which helps people to understand the “Face to Face
interaction” because here we can both use Verbal and Non-Verbal communication.
In Transactional Model, the sending and receiving the message are affected by the Context (setting
of work) because it shape how you send and receive the message and Field of Experience this
means that we all have value and believe that also affect how our interpretation on the message and
how we send a message, some factor may also be a noise. While in the Shannon-Weaver the
message may be interfere with only the “Noise” that affects how the receiver received it clearly.
