Technology Doesn't Have All the
Answers
✤ Technology needs someone to manage it !
People can better identify and manage content quality
through creative and out-of-the-box solutions!
✤ Technology can't think like a teacher!
Technology can cast a broad net to filter content, lewd
images, and text, it takes a person to make good
decisions on content.!
Technology can make the teaching & learning easier, but
it can't tell you which learning material to deliver, when
to teach, and for whom/target students.!
Technology can’t identify potential of students
ICT Planning & Strategy
Content Strategy Depends on Your Goal
Facebook Page
Facebook Group
✤ Teachers and students don’t
actually have to be ‘friends’ on
Facebook yet have a close virtual
relationship.!
✤ Teachers can create a ‘ closed
group’ and invite pupils to join
the group by email.!
✤ Teachers can upload files for
homework and revision, and can
also begin debates using an in-
built polling feature. !
✤ Teachers are able to see how many
group members have seen and
read the file, question or post.
01
YouTube

✤ Make theoretical concepts come

alive. Tap into the mind of the
visual learner. !
✤ Build a global classroom on
YouTube EDU by creating
educational videos then
uploading them to your YouTube
channel.!
✤ Video has to be short and
entertaining.

01
Twitter

✤ Twitter is like a discussion

forum. Students can share
ideas (via twitter) with others
in their class on an ongoing
basis.!
✤ It can be used for stand alone
activities or it can easily be
combined with other classroom
or homework tasks; to enable a
parallel conversation in class.!
✤ 140 Characters.

01
Linkedin Group

✤ Teachers can create a ‘ closed

group’ and invite pupils to join
the group without being
connected on Linkedin.!
✤ Teachers and students can
initiate discussion!
✤ Teachers can post useful
information or links.

01
SlideShare
✤ A powerful platform for
sharing content and increasing
awareness.!
✤ It’s the world's largest
community for sharing content.!
✤ It allows users to gather metrics
on on who viewed a
presentation, who followed you
and how much time they spent
on each slide.!
✤ In May 2012, SlideShare has
been integrating itself into
LinkedIn.
01
Blog
It’s an online journal. A good blog will have you inspired, entertained and informed.
Conclusion

The Role of ICT in Indonesian language learning and the

teaching of BIPA can be powerful:!

1. if it's used not only in the class-room situation or

formal education environment but also embedded in
learners’ daily life and activities.!

2. if it’s supported by the teachers who understand the

power of ICT and content strategy.
