STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR HP PUMP-2


OBJECTIVE: For Smooth Operation of HP water pump.

SCOPE: This SOP is applicable for 04 nos. of HP water pump.

INTRODUCTION: HP water pump is required to conveying the ash slurry from Economizer hopper to
slurry sump. It is obtained by 04 nos of HP water pump for 06 units. For 03 units 01 nos HP water pump is
running and another one is standby).

PRE CHECKS:

7 Check seal water pump is ready for gland sealing of pump.
8 Check all pipe line flange & coupling nut bolt properly tight.
9 Check water tank discharge valve open.
10 Check pump suction & discharge valve close.
11 Check both the Suction Header 600NB Butterfly valve open.

PRE- START CHECKS:

3 Sealing water line pressure normal.
4 Check Pump suction & discharge valve close.

5 Water tank level normal.


START PERMISSIVE :
1 Motor bearing temp normal.
2 Motor winding temp normal.
3 Check pump suction & discharge valve close.
4 Emergency push button is in release condition.
ECO-HP WATER PUMP START UP SEQUENCE :
1 Start seal water pump.
2 Sealing water line pressure normal.
3 Open the HP water pump suction valve.
4 Start the HP water pump.
5 Open the discharge valve.
6 Set the back-up seal water pump as "standby."
SHUTDOWN SEQUENCE:

1.PLANNED SHUTDOWN :

1 Insure that water tank level is low or any leakage is found in pipe line.
2 Stop the ECO-HP water pump & closed the suction & discharge valve.
3 Rectify the probable problem, if any.

2. TRIPPING OF HP WATER PUMP :If suddenly pump trips


1 Closed the pump suction & discharge valve.
2 Try to start stand by ECO-HP water pump.

3. EMERGENCY SHUT DOWN:


1 There is the apparent abnormal noise/Vibration after starting the pump.
2 The pump & motor bearing temperature is high.
3 When discharge line is leakage.
4 When endangering the safety of person and equipment.

INTERLOCKS : Remarks
1 Water tank level is danger low.
2 Seal water pump stopped.
3 Pump suction & discharge open feedback.

3. Ensure Discharge is closed before stating of Pump.

4. Ensure that Jet Pump Suction/Discharge valves are open before stopping the Pump.

DONT’s :

1. Don’t run the Pump if Recycle Water Bin level is low.

2. Don’t run the Pump if Cooling Oil level is low.

3. Don’t run the Pump if Motor winding temperature is continuously high.

4. Don’t run the Pump if Motor draws high current continuously.

5. Don’t start/stop the Pump frequently.
