    Materials: Power Point Presentation, Text Book, Computers, LCD Projector

    Objectives:
    The learner will identify different types of aquatic plants and animals with 90% accuracy.
    The learner will correctly explain the life cycle of an aquatic organism.
    The learner will correctly diagram the growth habits of an aquatic organism.
    The learner will correctly demonstrate an understanding of how to use electronic media.

    Modifications:

    Time Process Activities


    3 min Start the class with a gold fish in a glass bowl. Ask the
    Anticipatory students who can name the parts of the fish. Who knows
    exactly what the fish eats? What is its life cycle? Have
    brief discussion.
    The student will create a power point presentation, or a
    Objective typed report, or create a simple web page based on their
    research on an aquatic organism.
    30 min Lecture with power point presentation. Use the textbook to
    Input identify parts of a fish. Look at web sites that show life
    cycles and parts of different aquatic organisms. Bring in a
    guest speaker (DOW, or fish hatchery owner) to talk with
    the students.
    30 min Open the unit on aquaculture with a power point. Then
    Modeling give a brief overview of the assignment and where to get
    help learning the computer media. Show them how to get
    started on their research.
    5 min What is aquaculture? Why is aquaculture important to you
    Questioning and me? What organism are you going to research? Any
    questions over the assignment?
    15 min Students will take notes from the lecture and power point,
    in class Guided and then they will begin to research their topic. The
    Practice students will make a power point presentation, or a typed
    report, or create a simple web page with their research on
    an aquatic organism. They must cover the life cycle, the
    habitat, the environmental contribution, and the anatomy.
    Then they will present it to the class.
    1+ hr at The students will save their project to a disk and finish the
    home Independent project at the library or their personal computers. They
    Practice need to be prepared to present in one week.
    1 hr The students present their project to the class. The class
    Continuation assesses the presentations for a grade.

    1 hr Assessment The students will have to give the common name of 10


    different aquatic plants and animals. Examples will be laid
    out in the lab, and they will walk around the class and
    identify them.
    In the presentation the student will correctly explain the
    life cycle of their chosen organism. The presentation will
    also include a diagram of the growth habits.
    By creating and using electronic resources the student will
    demonstrate how to use electronic media.
