1. INTRODUCTION
In order to increase production capacity PT. Indonesia Power as one of the biggest company which engaged to power
generator field is developing new plant Block 3. During construction activity one of the gas pipeline which they owned
get impacted and they have to reduce the production. Therefore further analysis/investigation to impacted pipeline will
be required before running production in normal condition.

3. PIPE STRESS ANALYSIS

3.1 Purpose
The purpose of Pipe stress analysis is to ensure that the pipeline remain in safe condition related to impact of construction
activity. Sensitivity analysis also will performed related to actual condition after impacted and the result will be compared
to design condition.

3.3 Scope
The main concern of the pipeline stress analysis is above ground section which impacted from construction activity. The
other part of the pipeline which modelled it’s just for reference only beside to get condition analysis as real as posible.

3.4.3 Design Parameter


Design basis for base temperature and seismic condition in the analysis are as follows:
 Base/Installation/Ambient temperature : 85 0F
 Seismic condition : 0.3

3.5 METHODOLOGY
3.5.1 Software
Flexibility of piping system is analyzed by comprehensive method using computer software of Caesar II version 5.3. SI
Units to be used for analysis and documentation. Piping system coordinate in the analysis is as follows:
X : South
Y : Elevation
Z : West

3.5.2 Friction Effects


Friction effects shall be included in the thermal expansion and contraction analysis for all sizes lines and all sizes lines
connected to strain and load sensitive equipment.
Friction force shall be calculated based on the properties of the sliding surface and contact material. Table below shown
static friction coefficients shall be used.

3.5.4 Analysis Method


Design consideration in the pipe stress analysis and load from piping system acting on load sensitive equipment vessels
comprises:
 Thermal expansion (expansion stress)
 Dead weight, pressure (sustained stress)

3.5.5 Design Criteria


The calculated code stress shall be acceptable based on ASME B31.8 for all load cases.

3.6.1 Stress Summary


The calculated stresses in hydrotest, sustain, occasional, and thermal expansion cases are acceptable based on ASME
B31.8 as shown in table below.

3.7 CONCLUSION

The following conclusions have be en made from the result of the analysis:
1. The maximum stresses is under the allowable criteria due to sustained case.
