Class Expectations *I expect students to respect themselves, others, and their teacher.
*All must follow Broughton High School rules and WCPSS policies.
*Students will come to class with materials and a great attitude.
*Students should take notes on each lesson.
*Students must complete assignments and try their best.
*All students must participate in class during the period, and seek help when
needed. You should work to complete at least 1-2 GP lessons per class period!
*No mobile devices are allowed during class except for instructional
purposes, per school policy.
Class Description In this class, students will recover a credit of a course they have not passed. The entire
curriculum is done online through a program called GradPoint. As students go through the
lessons of the program, they are highly encouraged to take notes and are allowed to
use these notes on their tests. ALL PRETESTS AND POSTTESTS ARE PASSWORD
PROTECTED. While you may do any of the lessons outside of class, the tests MUST be
completed in class. The teacher’s role is to monitor students and help with questions.
Depending on the course the student is taking, there might be a required final exam at the
end of the course. Students must be motivated self-starters, and independent learners!
Grading System In the GradPoint system, students take a pretest for each unit (module) in a prescriptive
course. If you score 80% or better on any lesson objective during the pretest, you may be
exempt from that lesson. If you earn lower than 80%, then you will be required to learn the
objective by completing those specific lessons and then taking the unit posttest. Students
must earn at least 60% to continue to the next unit. You may retake posttests up to three
times. Since this is a credit recovery course, no numerical grades are assigned. A student
will have a P for Pass or an F for Fail on the report card at the completion of the course.
For a student to fail, that would mean that he or she did not complete the assigned modules
and/or did not complete the final exam. Comments on student progress will be posted to PS
for interims and end of the quarter.
Extra Help The online courses are available at any computer that has internet access. This means
students can work on their lessons at home or the library. However, students are not
allowed to take any pre-or post-tests without the supervision of a teacher. If students need
additional time outside of class with teacher help, they need to make an appointment with
me after school or during lunch.
Please let me know how I can be of assistance. I look forward to a great year!
