1.1 FORMAT

D 1 D = 1 - Fault codes. Refers to the Service System (SES), the Advanced Communication
2 D 3 9999 System (ACS), the Data Communication System (DCS), the Radio Control
D4 System (RCS) and external alarms (EXT)
1.2 FUNCTION
Fault codes 1-540 represent alarms that are generated by the basic system. The following table
describes the meaning of the alarms.
If the Control Application/Trading Application is present, also fault codes 700-767 are generated by
the system.
Fault codes 1-127 refer to the Service System. For explanations, see parameter description for
FAULT CODES IN SES, CODE .
Fault codes 257-484 refer to the Advanced Communication System. For explanations, see table in this
document.
Fault codes 513-540 refer to the Data Communication System. For explanations, see table in this
document.
Fault codes 700-767 refer to the Radio Control System. For explanations, see table in the document
fault codes for CA/TA.
Fault codes 769-1023 are specified by the user. Only external fault codes are allowed in the command
ALEII .

310 Digital trunk, excessive bipolar violation
Digital external line. Excessive bipolar violation exceeds the threshold level.

10 consecutive seconds.

The out of frame counter has exceeded 17 for 24 hours period.

314 Digital trunk, bit error rate
The accumulative bit error counter has exceeded the threshold level.

317 Digital trunk, errored second
The accumulative errored second counter has exceeded the threshold level.

318 Semipermanent connection unavailable
The connection over a B-channel provided by a semipermanent connection with signalling has
become unavailable.

319 Static semipermanent connection disturbance
This fault code indicates that a static semipermanent connection has encountered disturbances
due to LIM isolation, blocking etc.
The following information is given in the printout from the exchange for this fault code:

320 High call rate

The average call rate has exceeded the threshold of 12 new calls every 10 seconds. Normal call
rate is less than 9 calls per 10 seconds.
ADD INFO 1: EXS status

0 = up to 69 EXS buffers used
1 = 70 to 120 EXS buffers used
2 = more than 120 EXS buffers used
ADD INFO 2: Number of new calls in average the last 10 seconds
324 Faulty TMU board
Faulty tone receiver, tone sender or multi-party equipment has been detected when performing
periodic routine test of the TMU-board or the board has been placed on invalid board position.
The fault code will show faulty function or invalid board position on the TMU-board.

2 = Faulty multi-party equipment
3 = Faulty board position
330 No signalling link active within signalling link set
The alarm will be generated if none of the signalling links in signalling link set is in service, i.e.
in state active.

8 = Excessive pause between consecutive signal units
332 Excessive delay of acknowledgement message
In this case a signalling message is sent to cooperating exchange and an acknowledgement

message is expected, a time supervision will be started. The alarm will be generated when the
time supervision elapses. The message will be repeated until it is acknowledged or the alarm is
cleared.

ADD INFO 3: States the code of the sent message
333 Digital trunk group, excessive number of blocked lines
This alarm is set when a predefined number of lines within one blocking group are manually
blocked.

334 Digital transmission system faulty
The alarm will be generated when the hardware detects a fault on the digital transmission.

336 Lost data from/to information computer system
Supervision of transmission from interworking information computer system.

0 = A message was not sent from the PABX to the information computer system
1 = A network message waiting message was not processed by the PABX due to

337 Digital trunk, call set-up message received for unassigned circuit
The alarm will be generated if a call set-up message is received identifying a circuit which is not
assigned to any time slot within the concerned signalling link set.

339 Quality error in ANCD communication
An error has been detected in the ANCD information flow between nodes.
The interface between the PABX and the information system is supervised with respect to status
(fault code 282), quality (fault code 281) and character processing (fault code 298 and 339).
Alarm 339 detects if the signal number is faulty, the checksum is not OK or the signal length is
wrong.

0 = Faulty signal length
1 = Faulty checksum
2 = Faulty order
340 VCU board faulty
The fault code occurs when there is a problem with the VCU board. There are two different
kinds of faults that can occur.
• If there is a transmission fault, the No-End-to-End synchronization fault occurs.

• If there is a hardware failure, either Receiver over-run or Transmitter under-run occurs.

341 Faulty VCU board configuration
When this fault occurs the VCU board is set up with a non-existing VCU board configuration.

343 Wrong board type
A fault is detected when a Dual Access Extension is connected to a board other than an ELU28/3
or ELU33.
The fault appears when the ISDN side of Dual Access Extension is initiated in wrong board
type.
ADD INFO 1: EQU position where the Dual Access Extension is out of order
344 CIL, faulty connection to NIU/NIU2 port
The fault code is obtained when CIL cannot communicate with the external application using
this NIU/NIU2 port.

345 Information Computer, faulty communication channel
The communication channel for the information computer system is faulty.

346 Information Computer output buffer overflow
The output buffer for the information computer system is full.

347 Synchronization fault for DECT fixed part
The alarm indicates that a synchronization fault has occured on the RING interface or the BUS
interface for the ELU31 boards.

The alarm indicates that a disturbance is detected on the synchronization between two ELU31
boards.

349 Faulty RFP for DECT fixed part
The alarm indicates faulty Radio Fixed Part (RFP).

350 CSTA, Fautly communication channel
The fault code is obtained when CSTA cannot communicate with an external application using
this NIU/NIU2 port.

351 ACD MIS, Fautly communication channel
The fault code is obtained when ACD MIS cannot communicate with an external application
using this NIU/NIU2 port.

353 Continuity check failure
The alarm will be generated when the continuity check has failed twice or more. The alarm can
be cleared in two ways. Either by letting the execution of the test continue, with a check every
two minutes, until the check is successful, or by interrupting the test with command ALREI .
Both ways will clear the alarm and unblock the individual.

355 IP device board, unacceptable quality of service
The alarm indicates that the delay and/or the packet loss in the IP connections using an IP device
board are unacceptable (end to end lag > 100 ms and/or packet loss > 2%).
The alarm remains until new measurements report that in a 10-15 seconds lag the quality of
service can be considered as acceptable.

356 IP device board, faulty connection
The alarm indicates that there has been a disconnection in the physical line connected to the IP
device board (ELU32).

357 IP device board, jitter buffer overflow
The alarm indicates that there has been an overflow in the jitter buffer and packets are dropped.

358 SMS, faulty communication channel
The fault code is obtained when there is a problem with the communication to external SMS
equipment connected a NIU/NIU2 port due to:
• faulty NIU/NIU2
• faulty network connection between the exchange and the external equipment
• faulty external equipment
359 Faulty IP connection to satellite
The alarm indicates that the Routing Server has found a faulty IP connection to a satellite. The
faulty IP connection is discovered in the routine check.

0 = First initiated IP connection is faulty
1 = Second initiated IP connection is faulty
ADD INFO 2: Digits 1 - 4 in destination code to satellite
360 Routing Server, PNR table has been split
The fault code is obtained when the PNR table is split.

361 ELU32, faulty DSP
The fault code is intended for quick detection of faulty boards for replacement. The fault code
indicates the faulty board and which of the eight possible DSPs is faulty.

362 Device board is at alarm level 2
The alarm indicates that the device board (ELU34) has surpassed the security threshold for
temperature/power dissipation. No new incoming/outgoing traffic is allowed while this alarm is
on.
363 IP device board, major fault
The alarm indicates that there has been a major fault in the IP device board (IPLU). The specific
alarm is indicated in ADD INFO 2.

ADD INFO 2: Description of the type of alarm:
1 = Faulty connection
3 = Network overflow
7 = Network configuration error
8 = SysCom messages lost
9 = SysCom backplane error
10 = Configuration parameter invalid
11 = EEPROM error
364 IP device board, minor fault
The alarm indicates that there has been a minor fault in the IP device board (IPLU). The specific
alarm is indicated in ADD INFO 2.

0 = Unacceptable quality of service

A leased modem line extension is out of operation since the system has detected a hardware fault
in the leased modem line extension equipment (MAU, extension line or ELU).

A data extension is out of operation since the system has detected a hardware fault in the data
extension equipment (TAU, extension line, DLU or ELU).

520 Modem 107 (DSR) circuit does not respond correctly
The 107 (DSR) circuit of modem does not turn on during call setup or does not turn off during
call disconnection.
523 Data group individual disturbance marked
