REDUCE THE USE OF PETROLEUM FUELS

I. BACKGROUND
Now day, fuel needs are increasing. Fuel used in motorize vehicles is fuel derived
from petroleum. Day by day, the volume of petroleum is decreasing and it takes
millions of years to renew it. One day it will be disappear.

II. THEORITICAL FRAMEWORK

Organic waste from household waste or animal waste can produce a gas
that can be used in daily life, only if the waste is processed in such away that can
produce biogas. In addition to be environmentally friendly, the raw material for
making biogas is very abundant.
Biogas is the mixture of gases produced by the breakdown of organic
matter in the absence of oxygen. Biogas can be produced from raw materials such
as agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant material, sewage, green
waste or food waste. Biogas is a renewable energy source.
Biogas is produced by anaerobic digestion with methanogen an anaerobic
organisms which digest material inside a dosed system, or fermentation of
biodegradable materials. This closed system is called anaerobic digester, bio
digester or a bioreactor.
Biogas is primarily methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) and may
have small amounts of hydrogen and carbon monoxide (CO) can be combusted or
oxidized with oxygen. This energy release allows biogas to be used as a fuel; it
can also be used in a gas engine to convert the energy in the gas into electricity an
heat.

III. PURPOSE
To reduce the use of petroleum and to produce a fuel from organic waste.
Also to reduce soil, water and air pollution.

IV. MATERIALS
Organic waste, can be from our kitchen, animal waste, the fallen leaves,
etc. and anaerobic bacteria.

Budget Plan:
PRICE PER PRICE
NO MATERIAL TYPE QUANTITY UNIT
1 Plastic Reactor 1 Rp 4.500.000,00 Rp 4.500.000,00
2 Compresor 3 Rp 7.950.000,00 Rp 7.950.000,00
3 Regulator 3 Rp 93.00,00 Rp 279.000,00
4 Gas Tube 1 Rp 145.000,00 Rp 290.000,00
TOTAL Rp 13.019.000,00

V. METHOD
A bio digester is like a mechanical stomach. It is fed with organic material,
which is broken down (decomposed) by micro-organisms (bacteria) is an oxygen-
free (anaerobic) environment to produce a renewable energy called biogas
(methane and carbon dioxide) and other material that is mainly used as fertilizer.
