NARRATIVE REPORT
FIRST PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA) MEETING
GRADE 8 - SAGITTARIUS
JUNE 28, 2019
S.Y. 2019 - 2020
I. OBJECTIVES
II. INTRODUCTION
Parents are the first teachers of learners. Aside from loving and taking good care of
their children, they also serve as the foundation on acquiring knowledge and intelligence,
which is why they function as one of the stakeholders in education. Their involvement is
an enormous assistance to the development of learners’ performance for they have the
most of the time to monitor their children.
On the other hand, once the learners are set in school, administrators and teachers, as
cliché, are their second parents. They develop and improve learners’ level of knowledge,
strengthen skills, and discover values to be competent enough to face the hardships in
this world. For this instance, learners are monitored and facilitated by two parents – the
administrators and teachers, and the biological parents– in school and at home. And these
key persons should communicate with one another for the sake of learners’ personal and
academic success.
In line with this, Grade 8 Advisers and Non-Advisers decided to call for an early
PTA meeting for this school year at Palo Alto Integrated School to show the
collaboration between the parents/guardians and the teachers. Parents are asked to attend
the meeting with the class advisers. Through this meeting, parents have the chance to
know what is happening in the school where their children spend eight (8) hours in a day.
Last June 28, 2019, Grade 8 advisers conducted their first Classroom PTA
meeting which started at 3:00 in the afternoon. This was organized to orient parents on
school and classroom policies, to elect/appoint classroom’s PTA officers, and to engage
them and share responsibilities on learners’ progress.
Moreover, it started with a prayer headed by the classroom president, Mary Grace
Melgar, and followed by the opening remarks given by the adviser herself. She also
headed the orientation focusing on the students’ needs especially such as first aid kit,
bottled water, and hard hat. She also emphasized that all students with medications
should pass a photocopy of their medical certificates.
On the other hand, she only facilitates when the topic turned to the needs of the
students inside the classroom to make their environment conducive to learning. The
parents observed that the room currently needs another electric fan/s, lacking of trash
bins to segregate garbage, cleaning tools’ organizer, and medicine cabinet to organize
medicines and other first aid kit.
After this discussion, the election of PTA officers for the school year 2019 –
2020 was conducted. The table below shows the elected PTA officers.
This election was followed by an open forum conducted by the parents where
they tackled the amount of their contribution to address all the needed materials inside
the classroom. They agreed on the amount of one hundred and fifty pesos only (Php 150)
to be their contribution. They also decided that this contribution will be collected until
the last day of July 2019.
V. CONCLUSION
The first PTA meeting went well and organized. Parents were elected and were
able to be part of planning the future of their children and the students of the classroom.
