OBJECTIVES
I. Learning Competency Solve Real Life Problems Involving
GCF & LCM of Two Given Numbers.
II. Subject Matter Solving Real Life Problems Involving
GCF & LCM of Two Given Numbers.
References K to 12 Grade 4 Curriculum Guide, LM
Math Grade 4, p. 96-98
Materials Powerpoint Presentation, cards with
number pairs for the drill activity
III. Procedure

A. Preliminary
Activities
1. Drill Finding common factors and GCF of 2
given numbers.
a. 12 & 16
b. 15 & 25
c. 18 & 22
d. 24 & 36
e. 30 & 40
Finding common multiples and LCM of
2 given numbers.
a. 6 & 8
b. 9 & 15
c. 10 & 12
d. 15 & 20
e. 14 & 21

2. Review Review on how to express a number as

a product of prime factors.
3. Motivation Show a picture of a girl helping her
mother in a flower shop.
What can you say about the picture?
How do you show helpfulness at
home? At school?
Is it good to be helpful? Why?
B. Developmental
Activity
1. Presentation Elvira is going to prepare bouquets of
roses and bouquet of daisies. She has
36 roses and 24 daisies. What is the
greatest number of each flower that
she can use in the bouquet if bouquets
have the same number of flowers?
What is Elvira going to do with the
flowers?
How many roses does she have?
How many daisies?
2. Performing the Pair Activity
Activities Pair 1: Finding the Greatest Common
Factror (GCF) by listing the factors of
36 and 24.
Pair 2: Finding the Greatest Common
Factor (GCF) by Prime Factorization
Pair 3: Finding the Greatest Common
Factor (GCF) by Continuous Division
3. Processing the Reporting/Checking of Outputs
Activities We used the 4 – step given in solving
problems involving GCF and LCM of
two numbers. Understand, Plan, Solve
and Check and Look Back.
We solved for the answer by listing
method, prime factorization, and
continuous division.
4. Reinforcing the In finding the GCF we can use the
Concept and Skill listing method.
Example: Find the GCF of 27 & 36
Factors of 27 = 1, 3, 9 and 27
Factors of 36 = 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18 and
36
Common Factor = 1 and 9
Greatest Common Factor = 9

Prime Factorization
Example:
27 = 3 x 3 x 3
36 = 2 x 2 x 3 x3
Common Prime Factor = 3 x 3
GCF = 9

Continuous Division
3 l 27 36
3l9 12
3 4
GCF = 3 x 3 = 9

Solve the following problem.

Aira baked 60 cupcakes and 46
cookies. If she is going to pack them in
boxes of cupcakes and boxes of
cookies, what is the most number of
each item will the boxes contain if
these are of the same answer.
5. Generalization How do we solve problems involving
Greatest Common Factor (GCF) an
Least Common Factor (LCM) of 2 given
numbers.

- We used the 4 – step given in solving

problems involving GCF and LCM of
two numbers. Understand, Plan, Solve
and Check and Look Back.
-We solved for the answer by listing
method, prime factorization, and
continuous division.

6. Evaluation Apply Your Skills!

Read and solve each problem and
write your answers in your answer
sheet.
1. Ian and Isagani went fishing. Ian
caught 21 fishes and Isagani caught 28
fishes. What is the greatest number of
fish each did catch per hour, if they
caught the same number of fish per
hour?
2. Mr. Rojas has 2 pieces of wood for
his scrabble board. One has a width of
18cm and the other one was 20cm. If
both sizes of wood are to be cut into
scrabble tiles of the same width without
wasting any wood, what is the greatest
width into which the woods can be cut.
IV. Assessment Read and Solve each problem. Write
your answer on your answer sheet.
1. Mr. Roldan’s class is composed of
28 boys and 35 girls. If he is going to
make groups of boys and group of girls
for the activities, what is the biggest
number of children in the group if they
are of the same number?
2. Dorie is going to pack puto in boxes
of 6 and 12 pieces. What is the
smallest number of puto that she can
pack using the boxes?

V. Assignment Read and solve each problem. Write

the answers in your notebook.
1. Oranges are sold in boxes of 6, 8 10
and 12. How can Mario buy 60
oranges?
2. A bell rings every 15 minutes. A horn
blows every 30 minutes. If Kathy heard
the two sounds at 9:00 a.m., what time
will she hear the sounds together?
