Islam As Way of Life
Islam As Way of Life
Islam As Way of Life
Islam is the way of life means that it encompasses every aspect of a person's life. Islam is not
confined to only religious duties such as prayers, reading the Quran and/or reciting dua, instead, its
guidance is comprehensive and includes the social, economic, political, moral, and spiritual aspects
of life.
As an example, the holy Quran caters to all aspects of life as it has verses that provides for good
leadership [Surah 2: 246 - 247], conducting businesses [Surah 83: 1 -4], decision making [Surah 3:
159], treatment between neighbours [Surah 4: 36] and so much more.
Further to that, the hadith of the Prophet SAW also embodies Islam in every aspect of one's life. To
illustrate this, the Prophet SAW speaks on relationships in which he stated that "And the best of you
are the ones who are kind to their wives" [Sahih Muslim]. He also speaks of Islamic business ethics in
which he stated that "God shows mercy to a person who is kind when he sells, when he buys, and
when he recovers a debt" [Sahih Bukhari].
The above authorities show that the Quran and Sunnah give guidance which includes personal and
public matters of one's life.
Public interest, or maslahah, is a very important element in Islam as it is for the betterment of the
ummah and it regulates human transactions and activity in a manner that is conducive to human
welfare in this world and the world Hereafter.
I am currently working for Edgenta PROPEL under the infrastructure department and I believe that
what I do is contributing to the public interest of the society. This is because (explain ur job and how
it helps ppl i.e assist in traffic control? traffic management? and it helps people be safe? idk what u
do but explain it in a way that it is for the public interest).
- can also include if u joined anything masa uitm but just add "for the sake of the muslim ummah" or
"to contribute to the ummah"
3. concept of education
Education is very important in Islam as the first verse that was revealed to prophet saw was "iqra"
which means read. Therefore, I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn and to
share what they have learnt with other people. Prophet Muhammad saw stated that "acquire
knowledge and impart it to the people" [Tirmidhi] which means that it is vital for knowledge to be
shared.
Furthermore, the Islamic concept of education is one without any discrimination where it is
compulsory for everyone to pursue education. the prophet saw once said "the seeking of knowledge
is obligatory upon every Muslim" [Tirmidhi]. During the jahiliyyah period, only males pursued
education and females had to stay home. Therefore, Islam makes it clear that there is no
discrimination in education and that everyone must seek knowledge, regardless of gender.
The importance of education has been emphasized repeatedly in the Quran, which is the ultimate
source of guidance for Muslims. Surah 20:114 says, “My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.” This verse
indicates that whatever we know is limited as we need to keep asking Allah to increase our
knowledge. Therefore, a Muslim should constantly be seeking more knowledge.
4. role as employee
In Islam work is given special importance to the extent that it is considered as an act of worship in
itself. Therefore, I would play the role of an honest and dedicated academician/employee. I desire to
meaningfully contribute to the ummah, and I would give my all to my line of work and assist my
colleagues in their assignments and work as a team to provide great results.
I am positive that I can be a good and trusted employee and i aim to be part and parcel of a working
and productive society. My skills include [letak your experiences here and your skills etc mcm dalam
resume u].... and I plan to apply my skills and experiences at your honourable institution.
[im not rly sure if ure applying for employee or academician? so maybe u can elaborate on that
here].
As a muslim, it is our duty to be responsible and reliable. A job is our amanah and I vow to keep that
amanah.
