Between the fog and the rocks there is a Magical Town that is distinguished by its green landscapes, ideal to be
explored by hikers who are in search of contact with nature, either in a quiet walk or on a trip full of adrenaline.
What is that lovely place? Of course we refer to Mineral del Chico, located just under an hour from Pachuca,
Hidalgo.
This mining town founded more than 400 years ago and that at one time was rich in gold and silver, now offers
its visitors a natural wealth without equal. "El Chico", as they call it colloquially, is the perfect destination for a
quick weekend getaway. Here we tell you everything you can do in this charming town.
Ecotourism, nature and adventure
1. El Chico National Park is one of the must-sees if you travel to "El Chico". Here you will delight in its
2,739 hectares of forest that you can walk its paths on foot or by mountain bike.
2. Take advantage of your walk through El Chico National Park and enjoy a magnificent view at the
Peña del Cuervo viewpoint.
3. Breathe fresh air in El Cedral Recreation Park, one of the oldest in Mexico and where a splendid dam
with the same name is located. This natural paradise is located in the community of Estanzuela and here
you can practice abseiling, hiking, fishing and more activities.
4. Venture in the Carboneras Recreational Park and enjoy a day full of action and adrenaline in its zip-
line circuit and suspension bridges. Ideal for those looking for a tourist eco escape.
5. Climb Via Ferrata on a 400-meter route full of adrenaline. This Via Ferrata is located in La Tanda
mountain, just 20 minutes from "ElChico".
6. Practice sport fishing for trout, bass and carp in the dams of Cedral and Jaramillo. 7. Ride on a donkey
(no kidding). Visit the rose greenhouses of the Cimbornes community above an adorable donkey.

10. Explore the San Antonio Mine, one of the oldest and where silver was extracted. If you are daring you can take
a night tour, where you will know the legends that this place keeps.
11. Try a "Tachuela", a drink made from wild herbs and fruits, very classic bar "The Tachuelas", which
opened in 1960 and is now a classic for those seeking to refresh the throat.
12. Delight your palate with the typical appetizers such as barbecue, enchiladas and quesadillas. You can
also try delights of the season, such as quelites and escamoles that you can savor in June and July; and

CELEBRATIONS
13. In August, during the second week, the Festival of the apple and the begonia takes place, this last
flower typical of the region and that springs up during this time.
14. In December, specifically on the 8th, do not miss the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, patron
saint of the town. During this celebration the streets are filled with color, music and lots of food.
