Simulation Stage

This stage focused on the output of the design. In order to verify if that the

objectives had attained, the project was subjected to test for its functionality,

performance, stability and durability. Simulation testing of the design confirms whether

or not as it is supposed to or if it needs adjustments with its design. The recording data

on the water speed was done for the analysis of water potential of the location to

generate power. ANSYS CFX CFD software will be use to simulate the proposed

machine. The ANSYS CFX has its own features that will guide the designing of the

machine and determining if the parameters set meets the objective or goal. ANSYS

CFX is fully integrated with ANSYS Workbench to provide full two-way interactivity with

ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Maxwell and other simulation technologies. ANSYS CFX

features use in the simulation stage includes ANSYS Workbench which allows you to

import your CAD geometry, prepare it for CFD use in ANSYS Design Modeler and mesh

it automatically or manually with the ANSYS Mesh component. It solves complex

models with confidence since ANSYS CFX can model your most difficult fluid flow-

related physics phenomena and solve sophisticated models for multiphase flows,

chemical reaction and combustion. Even complicated viscous and turbulent, internal

and external flows, flow-induced noise predictions, heat transfer with and without

radiation can be modeled with ease. It is used in Rotating Machinery, ANSYS CFX is

the recognized leader in rotating machinery including pumps, fans, compressors, and

gas and hydraulic turbines. These models demand the highest accuracy, robustness

and speed. CFX provides a wide range of tools for turbomachinery design and analysis,

including rapid optimization of preliminary designs based on 2-D through-flow analysis

using the ANSYS Vista TF tool as well as the turbomachinery-specific geometry and

mesh-generation tools ANSYS Blade Modeler and ANSYS Turbo Grid. In addition, tight

connection to ANSYS structural mechanics solutions allow fluid–structure interaction

(FSI) to be captured whenever required. A complete suite of models captures the

interplay between multiple fluid phases like gases and liquids, dispersed particles and

droplets, and free surfaces. ANSYS CFX provides complete mesh flexibility, including

the ability to solve flow problems using unstructured meshes that can be generated

about complex geometries with ease. Supported mesh types include triangular,

quadrilateral, tetrahedral, hexahedral, pyramid, and prism (wedge). ANSYS Workbench

allows you to import your CAD geometry, prepare it for CFD use in ANSYS Design

Modeler and mesh it automatically or manually with the ANSYS Mesh component. It can

go further with CFX Solver Technology, since ANSYS CFX runs robustly and efficiently

for all physical models and flow types including steady-state or transient, incompressible

or compressible flows (from low subsonic to hypersonic), laminar or turbulent flows,

Newtonian or non-Newtonian flows, and ideal or real gases.

In the simulation procedures, The Velocity distribution is tested and it is

parameters which is happening across the flow path of the fluid. Through the geometry

icon, the creation or construction of the CAD or the design of your machine is

developed. Since ANSYS CFD is flexible to any changes, setting the ranges or the

measurement of your design is easily to configure. Determination of the simulation data

is needed and includes the fluid use, the analysis type, the reference pressure,

specifying the boundary such as the inlet where the discharge water will flow in our

turbine casing and the outlet. The flow specification is set. Through the definition of the
parameters the fluid direction will be determined. The velocity distribution data will be

seen upon animating the parameters set which indicates the electrical capacity

produced by the turbine.
