E-Learning Sources
Good Morning to one and all,
First, let me introduce myself, my name is Calvin Tai and I’m from Santa Maria Vocational
School.
Today I’m here to talk about e-learning sources. Before we get started, we have to know about e-
learning first. E-learning is a new technology discovered on the basis of the children’s education.
There are many benefits that can be achieved through it. E-learning is helpful for children to
understand more about subjects/topics and to clarify and make ones thought more creative.
According to the discoveries, e-learning has become one of the most famous learning technologies
which lets to homeschooling, and so on. It has become an unforgettable study experience for
children. Well, e-learning has been spreading widely and popular in the foreign countries like
United States. Of course, everyone knows that the United States is one of the countries in which
e-learning has picked up significantly to almost rival traditional learning mediums. If you are
looking for a niche course that is relatively hard to find, you can count on the United States for
having it in one of the many e-learning institutions. The e-learning sector here is one of the broadest
in the entire world, spanning over multiple different industries and niches, the next country is India.
Coming in second for the e-learning industry is India, whose online learning has grown faster than
traditional educational institutions in the country. The country faces major education crisis, with
more than half of the country’s population having received a limited education—namely, only up
to 4th grade. Many times, people in the country don’t have the means to attend schools, either
because of monetary aspects or geographical factors. E-learning has made way for a large scale of
development over the past few years, allowing people in even the remotest parts of the country to
have access to schools and higher education, provided that they have a decent internet connection.
The birth of the e-learning sector in India mainly happened due to the prevailing economic
conditions. People are often forced to go to work in order to make ends meet, and that puts their
education on a back seat. Through online learning, people can have access to whatever they want
to learn about while being able to work to support themselves and their families. China is anothr
country that has a blooming e-learning sector. The country that has over 70 online institutions and
colleges, which has made learning significantly more accessible to people who wish to attain
further education. Due to the sheer competition in the working sector of the country, the need to
get higher qualifications is more vital than ever before. The last is South Korea. South Korea has
always been a country that boosts technological innovation and involvement, actually more than
any other country does. Presenting one of the highest internet speeds in the entire world, the
situation in South Korea has become extremely favorable for online education. With the growing
tech industry and busy lives that South Koreans lead, it would only be natural for the education
industry in South Koreato shift to a new medium. The country sees some of the largest numbers
of enrollments every year, with more and more people choosing this over enrolling in regular
educational institutions in order to earn their degrees. South Korea is one of those countries which
uses e-learning that aims to transform the education industry as a whole. Through e-learning, they
make education a lot more flexible, allowing people to study exactly what they fins important. . E-
learning is a better way to be smart, knowledgeable, and it also gives more clarity to the topics. E-
learning has less cost of buying, accommodates everyone’s needs, and make education a lot more
flexible . It can also be introduced by the government to children who are unable to get educated.
With all the information I have reported here we can conclude that e-learning could make ones
mind creative, thoughtful, and many benefits are given. Majority of the countries has turned their
system of schooling to e-learning because of its majority in benefits. But it has some disadvantages
as well such as every matter on earth does have, e-learning make children can’t mingle with their
peers like in school so children may be not sociable enough with the other, e-learning make people
have no self-discipline and lack of input from trainers.
Say No To Bullying
I’m only going to speak to you for ten minutes this morning. During our ten minutes together,
someone, somewhere out there, is going to be badly injured because of bullying. By the time you
begin lunch this afternoon, someone, somewhere out there, will die because of bullying. By dinner,
another person will die because of suicide. By the time you go to sleep, another person will die.
As you sleep tonight, two more people will die because of bullying. And who knows what will
happen next?
Honorable judges, audiences, and my beloved participants, Good Morning
Standing here before you, I would like to deliver you my speech. Which is about bullying.
Ladies and gentlemen, have you ever been bullied? Has it happened to your peers or have you just
seen or heard about it on TV? Many people have different opinions on what bullying is. Some say
it is kicking or hitting someone, others say it’s when you say mean things or call someone names.
Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or
perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over
time. We will not ever expect that we are all the victim or the bullies. The bullies won’t come to
you or enter the class and say, “Hello guys, today we want to bully a nerd students and that’s you”
then they point at you with a sissy style. No, they won’t come and behave like that. They will
confront you, make a fierce face, shout at you and finally, they will bully you. Both kids who are
bullied and who bully others may have serious, lasting problems.
The issue of bullying has gotten a lot of attention in recent years, but it is something that has always
been around, and something some most likely still think is “one of those things.” But being bullied
can cause serious problems with self-esteem, and has even been a contributing factor to suicide.
Michelle Obama once said, “When someone is cruel or acts like a bully, you don’t stoop to their
level. No, our motto is, when they go low, we go high.”
So ladies and gentlemen, do you know why do bullies do bully?
Because they are often jealous of or frustrated with the person they are bullying. Why it can be
like that? Well, Ladies and gentlemen. Can you imagine, When a person picks on someone for
always being the first to raise their hand in class, or getting the best grade on tests and ruining the
curve, or even picking up many of the promotions at work, they may become an easy target for
bullies. Some of the things that make people different are generally neutral characteristics, but
some, like being smart, focused, or creative often represent attributes that the bully wishes they
shared with their victim. By seeking to undermine someone else’s skills, bullies try to create a
more level playing field. Another possible answer to the question, “What are the causes of being
bullied.” is that the bully may actually share the characteristic for which they are bullying the
other person. They may be embarrassed by their own intelligence and fear being called a “nerd,”
so they make the accusation of someone else. Those who bully because of a person’s sexual
orientation may still be trying to figure out their own and come to terms with it.
But, Ladies and gentlemen. Do you really know the impact of bullying for the victims?
Now, I will talk about the impact of bullying for the victims. They will suffer from PTSD. What
is PTSD? Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's triggered by a
terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks,
nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event. Most people
who go through traumatic events may have temporary difficulty adjusting and coping. PTSD
symptoms are generally grouped into four types: intrusive memories, avoidance, negative changes
in thinking and mood, and changes in physical and emotional reactions. Symptoms can vary over
time or vary from person to person. For the bullies, can you imagine in the future, your child is the
victim and he/she will suffer from PTSD too? This time, you can bully people but, what will
happen with you in the future?
While it can be difficult to empathize with the bully, it’s essential that parents and school officials
recognize that bullies engage in bullying behavior for a reason. Without help, the behavior will
continue, and potentially worsen, over time.
Last but not least, what can we do as a teacher or parents? And what should we do if we are the
victims?
There are many things that you can do if you're being bullied or know someone who is. First, you
can tell it to your true friends. If you've been bullied with rumors or gossip, tell your friends so
that they can help you feel safe and secure. Avoid being alone, especially when the bullying is
happening a lot. If it happens again, you can tell it to your parents. As a parents you should pay
attention to signs that your child might be bullied. Your child may not be vocal about being bullied.
You need to observe any possible signs that your child is going through the bullying of others. If
you find that your child is being bullied in schools, don't ignore him/her or just say "let it go".
Instead, you should have open conversations with your child. You need to let your child know that
you are on his or her side. Meanwhile, do not encourage physical retaliation. If it still doesn’t work.
As parents you should tell it to their teachers or principal. And as the teachers or principals, You
can Install School Security Cameras & Systems to Stop Bullying. School security cameras and
systems are one of the most effective ways to stop physical or verbal bullying in schools. Doonside
Technology High School in Sydney has reported a 70% drop in bullying since the school has been
protected by CCTV security cameras around the clock. For many bullying students, knowing there
is the potential that their actions are being recorded is enough to persuade them to stop what they
are doing. So, from now on, we should say no to bullying, everyone has their own bright future.
For the bullies, don’t even try to destroy their future. Quite a few children commit suicide just
because of bullying. For example, Audrey pott, She died of suicide by hanging on September 12,
2012. She had been allegedly sexually assaulted by three teenage boys at a party eight days earlier
and pictures of the assault were posted online with accompanying bullying.. And, that’s enough,
no more bullying, say no to bullying. And as the young generation, you should show respect even
to people who don’t deserve it; not as a reflection of their characters, but as a reflection of yours.
And for the bullies, remember.. pulling someone down will never help you reach the top.
Social media and technology are not agent of changes. They are just tools. We, the connected
people are the agents of change.
Honorable Judges, Ladies and Gentlemen. Good Morning
First, let me introduce myself, my name is Calvin Tai and I’m from Saint Mary Vocational
School.
I stand here today to deliver a succinct speech on technology and social media and how they
have greatly affected our lives
Ladies and gentlemen, my teacher ever told me how fast our technology is developing. When
their computer as thick as our dictionary, now our computer just as thin as our exercise or note
book. When apple and blackberry were just fruits and we can eat them, now they are a famous
smartphone brands and we can’t eat them. When they rode bicycles, we ride motorcycles. Can
you imagine how fast our technology is developing?
In today’s world of rising competition, technology plays a very crucial role in making our lives
easy and comfortable. There is no doubt that it is the most significant component of our survival
in today’s era. Without technology, maybe we still think that apple and blackberry are fruits that
we can eat, not a famous smartphone brand.
Presently, each and every day, a novel application or software is being introduced in the
economy that serves to enhance and uplift the lifestyle of the people in innumerable ways; hence
making our lives better and full of smart components.
We use technology everyday and everywhere in order to fulfil particular duties or our specific
interests. The technology helps us in numerous ways from morning till evening. People from all
ages groups benefit from technology until and unless they know how to access the same.
Because of technology, we can play any social media too such as instagram, twitter, facebook,
line, whatsapp, etc. Yeah, who doesn’t know about that? I’m sure everybody in today’s
competition have one or more of the social media that I have mentioned before.
Social media and is a fantastic way to get people to express themselves. Whether it be via a
Facebook status, writing on walls, Twitter updates, photos you share, these are all extensions of
you and your personality. They help portray your interests, your views and help show people
who you are. They offer a platform for you to be yourself, to be creative, to be who you want to
be and most importantly, have an audience for all of this. But one must never forget that
anything that comes to us has its own share of pros and cons.
There are multifarious benefits of technology. Technology has made communication much easier
than ever before by the introduction of advanced and modified innovations of phones and
applications. Not only in the professional world, but also in the household sphere, technology has
contributed a lot. Most of the technology that we have around us is automatic as compared to the
ones our parents had in their days. In the entertainment sector, we have more techniques to
provide the audience with a real time experience. There are more games, better musical
instruments, better visual systems like smart TV’s. Great success has been achieved in social
networking by connecting millions of people at one go with the help of codes. The advanced
technology in clinics and hospitals has reduced the errors made by surgeons; hence evolving the
patient’s treatment.
Despite all these advantages there are some disadvantages as well, which have negatively
affected the importance of technology especially social media. On a personal aspect, social media
can be used for internet bullying and victimisation. It gives people the opportunity to upset and
gossip 24/7. Online bullying is a serious problem and should not be overlooked or dismissed.
The victims of bullying at school for example, like to go home and escape, not sign into their
computer to be faced with more endless hurtful words.Content is a fire and social media is
gasoline. Certain physiological research teams have also proved that due to the presence of social
applications like Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter, etc the actual social isolation has increased
leading to depression and increased loneliness cases amongst the youngsters. The increased
dependency of humans on technology has even deteriorated the intelligence and creativity of
children.
Social media is a gift. It can be used to make or break a business. It can also make or break a
person. The truth is, the moral problems about freedom and expression in real life, can now be
applied to the virtual world. Whether we like it or not, or even agree with it, it's liberal enough to
be good for people to express themselves and find themselves. It's also liberal enough to provide
a soap box for less appropriate beliefs.
Growing up, we millennials didn't even know what social media was, let alone how it might play
such a big part in our adult lives. If you feel you are becoming addicted to social media, don't
worry, this is the step you can take to beat your social media addiction.
You should turn off your notifications and limit yourself.
When you stop notifications from disturbing your normal routine, you might find it easier to
concentrate on your daily tasks and not get distracted so easily.Set a timer on your watch or
phone, to limit the amount of time you spend on social media. Choose a limit depending on the
severity of your addiction – say an hour a day, which equates to seven hours per week – and
whenever you check your accounts, start your timer going. When you reach your limit, be strong
and don't be tempted to add on extra time. This will be a strong test of your willpower, but it will
be worth it in the end. Remember this, technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master.
Our nation is a developing nation in the context of technology and science. As the young
generation of Indonesia, we must know how to make wise utilisation of technology without
creating hindrance in the growth of an individual, mentally as well as physically. At last, I would
only say that it depends on us how much we choose to be dependent on technology because there
is nothing in the world which comes easy; it’s our conscience which decides what we learn from
the things that are provided to us.
As one of the young generation of Indonesia, I want to invite all of you to invent or create new
technologies for Indonesia. If you are always trying to be a normal person, you will never know
how amazing you can be. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s do it and be a creative person for
Indonesia.
